Great Budget Stay

My previous review dated February 17, 2013 already has listed the usual pros and cons of this budget hotel. I would highly recommend Express Inn, except for a very important security issue in the rooms. The problem is that all the rooms lacked deadbolts, which made me feel very unsafe, especially since I was traveling alone at that time. While I was about to talk to the manager in the lobby, the other guests told me that a lot of them had already complained about the lack of deadbolts, to no avail.
When I reported this to the manager, her illogical reply was that the lack of deadbolts were a precaution against suicides, so that in the (unlikely) event someone were to commit suicide there, the staff would be able to get to them quickly. The manager said all this in a very condescending tone, and didn't even consider the number of guests who might (rightfully) disagree with her reasoning and lack of sound judgment. I'd just like to add that if someone did happen to kill themselves in their room, the hotel wouldn't be held liable. However, if someone were to break into my room with utmost ease beacause of the lack of deadbolts, steal my stuff and then kill me, of course the hotel would be held liable because of their lack of basic security measures.
I sincerely hope Express Inn will soon install deadbolts, because this is a simple but vital security measure that I believe all hotels should employ for the safety and peace of mind of their guests.

Only stayed at this hotel for one night and am grateful that we didn't book it for any longer. We were 4 floors up and the noise from the street was relentless all night. Traffic beeping & we could even hear people's conversations on the street. If you need a good night's sleep, ask for a room away from the street. The hotel is good value for money otherwise.

Nice budget hotel
located 5 minutes from the SM mall

Hotel is convieniently located next to SM city mall, but not in the city centre. Perfect for my 1 night stay for airport transfer (appr 30 minutes by taxi, 180 pesos)
Room had a small window, nice and clean bed and fancy bathroom.
Friendly and helpfull staff and simple egg and toast breakfast included.
