Be careful ! No free drinking water !

this here was supposed to be a rather positive review, until the moment I checked out, that is. but facts first: I booked this cheap-hotel because I knew I would arrive only late in the evening and just needed a place to sleep (in the end I extended one night as I was too lazy to moce with all my luggage). the last-minute rate was good (with fifty percent off the regular registered rate) and the reviews positive. hotel is located in the seedy and unsafe downtown area, so this is not an area to roam around freely in the evenings. muggings happen there everyday, even during daytime hours. rooms were small but well-kept and clean, freshly painted walls, fully-stocked minibar. mattress unfortunately typical Filipino-style, thin and not very comfortable. restaurant is surprisingly upscale (Chinese) and expensive (TUNE Hotel sets the standard in the Phils nowadays!). The bad surprise came when I checked out. Virtually all hotels in the Phils I know (and I have been staying in more than hundred, from Cheapo to five Star) provide one or two bottles of free drinking water. there was some drinking water in my room too, even branded in the hotel's design. and not listed on the extensive Minibar-pricelist. so everybody would think it is free. but thats the trick: Upon check-out they asked me to pay for the drinking water, and it's an outrageous almost same as the canned soft-drinks. How low can they go ? pity them, if that's the way they have to make money. typical Pinoy-rip-off, me thinks. spoiled my overall good stay and impression.
Travel tip:
Hotel Feature Tip: once again: the drinking water is NOT FREE ! be careful ! and hotel only great value when they offer fifty percent discount. don't pay the full rate listed as this makes it no good value for money. particularly in such a dodgy area.

I arrived at the hotel on a taxi, and was surprised that the entrance and lobby is "hidden" so to speak. The taxi driver hesitated a bit and was afraid to push onwards as he foresaw that there would be some difficulty maneuvering backwards because the access inwards to the hotel is quite narrow. But I had my luggage so I insisted that the taxi should go as far as the front of the lobby, never mind the problematic outward maneuver. Despite this, the hotel personnel were so prompt, polite and accommodating, from the checking in to the settling in my room.
I got the room at a very good price, taking advantage at the last-minute promo through agoda.
The room may not be large enough for some people, but it was more than enough for my needs, and the cleanliness as well as the wi-fi access made my stay quite a pleasant one.

Cheap hotel in a poor location. The major things around are universities. However, the staff were great and you can organize a tour around Cebu city for relatively cheap.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
See the fort, see Mangellan's Cross, and vist the oldest church in Asia
