New hotel.Chic hotel. Modern type structure. High Tech fixtures. Cool and warm colors all over the hotel from paints and furnitures. Unique furnitures in the lobby. Overlarge victorian chairs and consoles. Attentive housekeeping staff and very friendly. Excellent signage all over the hotel. Landscapes are great even though all greens. Bellman very attentive and friendly. Guest service personnel are great. Excellent parking space and very secured.

Room area is too small with two queen size beds. No room to roam around. The hotel is very far from the downtown Mactan Swimming pool is not big enough. Sand in the beach is not sand but pebbles. Breakfast food not must of variety to select. Room service foods very expensive. Room service delivery takes too long and utensils are not included. Guest service personnel's attire are worn out and some stains in sleeves and collars. Shower curtain needs to be replaced- mildew and soap scums are present. Flooring are all tiles and it is slippery when wet.

Microtel Inn & Suites Mactan was one of my destination hotels to try when I saw it in Trip na Trip ABS-CBN Friday program. I was amazed how new and very modern concept hotel. Oct 26, 2009 is the day I checked in. Upon arrival, I was greeted warmly by the guest service personnel and the check-in process was quick even with my additional upgrades of room and extra friends coming with me. The bellman was very friendly and give us a huge welcome to our room. We were amazed how clean the room is and very chic in decorations. Our room was upgraded to deluxe from superior but still the room is very small with 2 queen size bed and no room to roam around. The washroom is very modern especially the fixtures which are very shinny. Only thing that is wrong in the washroom was the shower curtain which was not replaced - stains and mildew and soap scums are present. I think the swimming pool is only 25 meters long both sides with a smaller pool for the children. I am not surprised with sandy/pebbled beach because I know Mactan don't have a white sandy beaches. The only thing that disappoints me with my stay is the buffet breakfast which they don't have much variety to select. It was all meat products that are cooked and more on carbohydrates.Juices are not fresh but I think it was powdered fruit juices. But still it is an enjoyable overnight stay and I don't regret it. All the hotel staffs are friendly and ready to help.

i did not like the hotel at all.i was disappointed i was expecting a nicer hotel.i will not stay at this hotel again.

no central air conditioning.bathroom smelled urine towels not nice.no coffee making facilities.

the hotel lobby is modern although it is very small.the room is small and does not have coffee making facilities or capability of boiling water.the bathroom smelled bad even if it looked clean.no central air conditioning which is one of the reason why we stayed at a hotel in the philippines. i was disappointed with our stay.the hotel was below our expectations.the food was bad at best and even run out of chicken adobo.the staff were nice but unable to fulfill request of obtaining hot water pot because they dont have enough.the beachfront was not what we expected.i am glad that we stayed there for 2 days only.

Travel tip : the hotel is far from everything and is inconvenient.

comfortable, relaxed with clean room. fresh pineapple juice is the one of my bests. I met a typhoon in Manila but the staffs did their best to coordinate my trip to go back to Japan.

sometimes I was not able to get hot shower, but there was no further thing to claim.

not a huge hotel, which may be of benefit for us who want to be relaxed. You will get to know that staffs are kind and receive a polished service from all staffs.

Resonably Priced, helpful staff

The private beach - sand is so coarse with stones Rental for kayak and presumably other equipment is pricy

A modern and nicely decorated hotel with helpful staff. Located just close to Shangri-la and Hilton so you could tell the taxi to head that way and you'll see the hotel sign post. Although it mentioned it has 3 swimming pools actually there's 1 - 2 others are too small even for kiddies. The Beach - disappointing not because it is small, but the sand - not really, the coarse rocks and stones just put you off. We have plans and out of the hotel for most of the day so the food and facilities did not upset us too much. The big echo from the corridors will make the room noisy at times, depending on what kind of people stayed on your level.

Enviroment is Clean enough and staff are helpful. Hotel is far away from shopping centre but good for diver.

Breakfast.........

The enviroment is clean enough and room's decoration make your feel comfortable. However, the breakfast is really bad. I have ate it after 1st day. The swimming pool is small but quite nice. Sun bath beside the bool is excellent and relaxing. The location is not good for people who always visitng the shopping centre. It is ideal place for person who just want to stay at hotel.

Restaurant Tip : Just forget the breakfast in hotel

Excellent room, Couteous staff and suites budget

Breakfast should be continental type. At least one bottle of mineral water must be provided by the hotel daily as compliment

The hotel is located excellently well, having sea beach enjoyment. The natural environament, pools, and calm atmosphere makes it very special. wide rooms, view and courtsey of hotel staff are its special features and all at very attractive price. value for money. Breakfast needs to be improved. There had been no hassle in check in/ check out and stay. On the whole it was an enjoyable stay at hotel.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Sea beach in the evening or early morning

Has its own beach and swimming pools, Nice environment, Nice rooms, Nice staff, Close to airport.

Far from the city - need to spend lots daily both trips from hotel to city The workers in hotel always arrange expensive taxi for you, Supposed to have upgrade to superior room but not in all my 3 nights stay there as they claimed no rooms were a/v, Expensive water sports facilities are only provided by hotel

If go to Cebu, got to stay in the hotels around the beach otherwise no chance to enjoy the sun and sea. Generally, it's good and relaxing to stay. But no much to do beside the pools and sun. Should go to the city for shopping, movie and others at night time.

I have nothing to comment except clean room

Small swimming pool, dirty beach, rough sand, terrible breakfast food....

Overall is not so bad compare with room rate but security has some problem. Hotel has regulation to register all incoming car plate number but it seems that the regulation is just on the book. When I arrived hotel from airport by car, I forgot to take my baggage and after 5min, I found and ask hotel to contact taxi company or driver but until my leaving, Microtel always said under checking. I HAVE LOST MY BAGGAGE AND LOST ALL MY STUFF.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : 1. To prevent extracharging, always ask river "BY METER" when you get taxi. 2.Price of Scub dive - Traval Agency or water sports center " $80~100/person/1 point dive - Local dive center through local touter : $45/person/2 points dive

the rooms are clean, the staff are always ready to offer a helping hand:) the view from the pool is pretty good.

there is no kettle in the room! only one restaurant! the towels look a little over-used. buffet breakfast was NOT appetising at all. food at the only restaurant was over-priced.

we thought the room was lovely, simple and clean. however, there wasn't a kettle in the room. each time we needed hot water, we had to call room service. this is really inconvenient as the hotel is not close to any shops, cafes and restaurants! how about having more restaurants in the hotel? also, how about having a better buffet spread for the breakfast? it didn't look like food that was to be served at a hotel. lastly, the payment for early check-in was atrocious. it was almost equivalent to one night's stay there!

-Clean room

-Room doors constantly slamming, very thin walls in room, just loud in general -Beach is forgetable -Pool small and crowded -Balcony inaccesible: can not go out on to balcony in room -Room service very pricey -Breakfast buffet less than mediocre -Pay for wi-fi

Why visit Mactan in Cebu? Perhaps a little fun in the sun, beachside or poolside? This is why I chose Mactan to visit for 3 nights/4 days. I rely heavily on hotel reviews before deciding where to book. While reading reviews for the Microtel Mactan, most were positive with a smattering of negative reviews. While I can admit that I have never written a review, I was driven by my latest stay to write this one. If you are looking for a hotel where you will stay and enjoy the facilities and do not plan on venturing out, look elsewhere. The pool is tiny and often crowded. Did not see a single person even swimming on the beach. Rented a scooter and spent most of our time exploring Mactan and Cebu proper. Actually spent a night at a real resort in Sogod (while we had our room booked for 3 nights at Microtel). After spending two days and a night at this resort, returning to the Microtel was depressing. Also, read the other reviews about the constant room doors slamming. Its loud, and annoying. The staff was generally friendly, but one rotten apple did spoil the bunch. Found no room service menu in the room so called the front desk for one. The gentleman who answered the phone told me that there was one in the room and that i should look again. So i did, and again not finding one called the front desk. This time the front desk waited a full minute before picking up the phone. He cordially answered the phone and told me he would send one up. Five minutes goes by and we get a call; its the front desk asking us what we want to order. After telling him that we did not receive the menus yet, he said that he was not going to send one up, but instead was willing to read the entire menu aloud to us over the phone. I found this be a little ridiculous. Long story short and about $30 later, we had two cheeseburgers and fries. Do not plan on walking anywhere from the Microtel. You will need some sort of transportation. Bottomline: Comparatively inexpensive hotel on Mactan

The view. We stayed on the 6th floor directly overlooking the ocean.

The worst part of staying on the 6th floor was the noice from the roof. Too much clattering clearly heard. Also, the noice from the rooms to the left and to the right of our room were very audible; too thin walls...

We had to take a taxi every where we went and most taxi's complained the hotel was a little far away. From the SM Mall or Ayala Mall, most taxis did not want to use their meters, they wanted a contract for 300 pesos or 350 pesos each way. I did like the location in respect to other facilities. We were only 5 minutes ride to the restaurant called Su-Tu-Kil and other nearby restaurants. Though we stayed in a suite with a supposed kitchenette, the kitchenette consisted of just a microwave, a small kitchen sink and a microwave. I was expecting the kitchenette to have a stove or a hotplate and at least a coffee maker. There was nothing like that. The card key to the room expired every night. I mean, each time we came back in at night from the day's activities, the key would not work. I then would have to go downstairs and ask the receptionist to reset the keys. Breakfast was horrible. They served the same thing every morning consisting of different types of cooked rice, fish, very runny scrambled eggs and and bread. The hotel was clean though. The people who worked there were very attentive and curteous. We stayed for 8 days; 1 to 8 Aug 09.

Restaurant Tip : Su-Tu-Kil is a must restaurant to experience. It is near the hotel (about five minutes ride). The seafood - very fresh and many local vendors selling souveneers in the immediately vicinity.

clean and new

not really good service, not good morning buffet, the condition of beach is not good.

Generally, the hotel is clean and new, however, I find the people overthere are not that nice and polite. When I requested a taxi to Pier 4, they just asked me to wait, however, I was in hurry to take the ferry. Finally, they arranged but don't think which is free, it costs 1200peso, they reli wasted my time. So I won't not choose them again.

Small beach

#3.00 an hour for internet access very far from any other resturants besides pricy hotel resturant Squatter camps surround the hotel No activites at hotel

On scale of 1-10 I would rate Mircotel hotel a 2 Hotel is brand new and very nice looking but the walls are paper thin. A burger cost more than in the USA and the lack of a gym or any activities at all was a problem also, mall and resturants are 30-45 mins away by cab.

Restaurant Tip : Ay alyalla mall is best mall and TGI Fridays is good value there

Building is recently opened (Last Dec.?) and very new.

windows cant be opened

The building is new and clean. All the inside is unified with white color and give a clean and fresh look. The best part in this building is the ground floor dining area. You will like the refreshing moment when you are having the breakfast overseeing the ocean sorrounded by the beautiful sunshine around the floor.

+ Fantastic staff! So wonderful friendly and helpful! + Not too luxuary (4 stars I believe) but very nice and clean rooms and common areas + A lot of areas where you can sit and relax / read a book or study (like I did). + Quiet location - good for visitors that like to escape the city noise.

- Beach is not too exciting though, on the other side they have two pools which I prefer anyway. - Activity options in this area may be limited.

I came to this newly opened hotel (opened in September 2008) to relax. I initially booked only 4 nights but I extended the stay two times and stayed totally 10 nights - simply because I loved this hotel and its friendly staff with genuine interest to look after their guests. Of course, relations are always mutual so I also showed my appreciation which was very much appreciated but not "expected". The standard of this hotel suited me very well. Not too luxuary but still very elegant and fresh and with a wonderful view over the sea in the evening. Good for romantic holidays and for 4-8 days stay! :) (after 4-8 days, you may be looking for more things to do).
