Being a first timer in Cebu had been a great experience especially with my stay at Sotogrande Hotel & Resort. It's located near the lovely beach of Punta Engano, and just minutes away from the airport and Marina Mall - the place to find good food, souvenirs, etc.
I stayed in the Deluxe type of room, giving my half the beach and half the city view, which I enjoyed. The room was organized and the entire Hotel was spacious enough and neat. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I enjoyed the included amenities such as pools, sauna, Jacuzzi, and the beach.
I also had the chance to taste a few of their dishes apart from the sumptuous breakfast buffet, and they were all delicious. I'd love to come back and enjoy more in this hotel/resort. It's being home away from my home, indeed!
Hotel Feature Tip:
The hotel has free shuttle service to Marina Mall and Airport twice daily so you could dine out if you find their menu costly. The pools are located within Vista Mar area, the subdivision wherein the hotel is situated, and all you have to do is to tell your room number to be able to use them for free.

perfect place for a smoothless vacation, alone or with family,the hotel feels new and sofar well maintain. the oudoor pool perhaps a bit undeep but is very clain and larger than most pools. The food a la carte in the restaurant is well served and the buffet breakfast is plenty even at closing time.The staff in this hotel receive from me a 10 for the good services.As last the rooms are oversized in comparing with other hotels what results in a pleasant stay and sleep.
Shopping Tip:
very pratical in this resort is the shuttle service to a nearby mall and to airport,twice a day 10:30am and 3pm but is only ONE WAY

Clean, comfortable rooms and restaurant is not over-priced.
Hotel location is too deep in, far away from the outside world. To go out from hotel, only option is by taxi. But taxis in Cebu are always expensive once they know you are a foreigner! 9/10 times we were overcharged up to quadruple the normal rate.

Pillows like rocks. No internet in the rooms. Reasonably nice food at breakfast but a limited selection. If you are in a hurry don't go here. The taxi is not near so you wait a while for that.

The hotel is two thumbs up because of the location, the food buffet and the room / hotel amenities. The hotel is near to the seawalk adventure of course it depends on the weather, the bird sanctuary or if you just decided to stay in the hotel they have a big pool .

Had a great stay, very much rested. But, the management should pay more attention to the flies. they have to get rid of these as its annoying while we were having breakfast. The staff at the restaurant which i learned later that she is an ojt, she could have been taught that when a guest orders, she should know the room number so as not to delay the serving of the food ordered. If i didnt call after 30 minutes for follow up, she wouldnt know which room ordered for that food.

Cheaper compared to the other resorts in the area

i stayed here for one night and was satisfied with the location and price compared to the other resorts in the area like shangri-la or crimson however the room condition was poor and had problems with the ac but as i was hardly in the room i was not too bothered. the staff were all very friendly and helpful. there is a good gym and pools next door which the hotels guests have access to.
will probably stay in cebu city next time although it's 45 minutes away from the airport there are more activities there and lapu lapu city is fairly limited.
