The resort was the best I have stayed at by far! The staff was great and very helpful. If you are looking for a quiet get away I would definitely recommend Talima Beach resort.

The manager Horst from Germany was absolutely amazing...gret language skills...great knowledge...great entertainer...He took me on a full day tour of the island explaining everything...we had beers and met his mates...he even gave me an evening meal free of charge and was awake when I left at 0500 or so...His staff are really superb and they have an amazing setting...Does not matter that it takes a while from Cebu city...the peace is so so worth it...amazing...Thank you Horst and good luck for the future....from an Englishman.

Peaceful haven
The Staff , the View, the peace

"On the island remember two impaortant thngs (1) the Bike and (2) the Boat " and with this friendly advise from an Olango Island resident I boarded the boat ride for three most peaceful days on this beautiful Island. The resort itself is set in one corner and on arrival one gets the first of the stunning views of the sea and the island of Maktan. I am informed of the upgrade i have been given by Nadine the Hospitality in Charge and soon meet the family that own this lovely resort. Horst who are happy to tell me theres nothing to do on the island except R&R and its exactly why I am there (and fish ..bad news there as the area opposite is protected with a Warden 24X7 !!) Everything on this resort is just perfect without being ostentacious. The Dinamay cottage is homely and spacious and faced the sea the beds, hammock , desk in the verandah and the deck chair are all inviting at once. The inhouse masseur was amazing so dont miss that. The food and drinks are tasty and of generous quantities and Nadine and her staff make sure you get it just the way you want it. They are a lovely bunch of people and I was sorry to say goodbye when we did since it felt like leaving home. I hope to be back soon as this is truely a haven of peace tranquility and good people.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Try and get to the Olango Bird Sanctuary with a Picnic basket just before High tide a great place to connect with nature ...transport back may be a challenge so tie up to be picked up by the tricycle guy or enjoy the walk thru the woods to the village!

Talima - small, quiet resort close to Mactan Cebu
Very quiet, only a few rooms, lovely pool, fantastic bird reserve nearby
7
I chose to come to Talima as I was searching for a small resort close to an airport for a relaxing weekend away from Manila - Talima was a good choice for this. It's only a short ride from Mactan Cebu Airport, but completely different from the big, brash, commercial resorts oon Mactan.
Talima is on Olango Island - a small island with not a lot on it except for a fantastic Bird Reserve which is protected by the national government - it's full of birds, mangrove, sealift in the shallow waters.
Also, there is a fish reserve in front of the resort which is fun to snorkel in (but nothing to compare to Palawan or Apo Island).
The resort itself is simple, nothing flashy - but it does have a nice pool. There isn't a beach though.
It was a good choice for a quick getaway from Manila - but if I'd had more time Palawan, Camiguin or Siquijor would be better places - but I did enjoy my weekend here - especially the bird reserve.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Go to the bird reserve - its really nice - even if you are not a deficated bird watcher. Very dramatic landscape, plus informative and friendly staff at the reserve.

Surprising Perfect,
Remote, amazing people, pretty good room

I read the reviews of every hotel in Lapu Lapu, Thus said, expect very little to do here at Talima. This is a place to swim, snorkel, enjoy the views, reflect on life. If this is what you are looking for, then Talima Beach resort will be a wonderful place for you. If you are looking for action, do NOT go here.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Now for the super bonus experience.
I've lived in Manila for a few years. All my female friends know that its almost impossible to talk to the men in Manila. They are shy, don't speak English and straight up snobbish. My love for the Philippine people was completely transformed by this island. My advice is for you to walk outside the gates and simply wonder on the streets. Smile at the people and enjoy the magic of the culture. You won't get 100 meters before you have pulled up a chair and talked to a group of people. It will start with 1 or 2 people, by the time you leave, there will be 10-15 people talking to you. All in decent English.

A place for tranquility, Snorkel, scuba......
Small. Quiet. Right on the fish reserve so snorkeling is off the property in 5 seconds u see the fish...
8
A must stay. Food excellent. Staff very friendly as compared to most Filipino stays... This rates a 8 or 9 out of 10 for me. Room clean and comfortable... And private with outdoor table and dining at either your room or the restaurant. Truly for those seeking a quiet stay... Great for couples.... Or that person who needs some tranquil time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Short boat ride from the Hilton pier. Then a 12 minute tricycle ride.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Go snorkel early as the boats from the mainland start arriving around 11am with the tourists from Hilton and other resorts... But truly no worries overall.... Lots of space and snorkel n diving available here. Dive shop on site and reasonable. Excellent people running it. Padi certified. Around 17000 p to get certified if u have a few days...
