although it was very hot outside our room was freezing. the room and the amenities are great although don't be looking for a 5 star amenities but the thing is, the hotel provides with the basic necessities that you will need for the duration of your short stay.
the only thing i did not like is that there is no elevator, just request for a first floor or second floor accommodation.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Close to Abreeza Mall and Gaisano Mall and other fast food chains in case you decide to take a quick bite.

New, clean and good value for money hotel
It's a new hotel located just one tricycle drive from Victoria or Abreeza Mall. It's clean and offers affordable rates with cable and wifi.

The staff are helpful for guests' requests however I would appreciate it better if they would clean the rooms on a daily basis. Further, it would be much, much better if they would just provide thermos for hot water instead of bringing hot water in a glass every time the guests want. I think thermos for hot or cold water would save energy and time of staff instead of going to rooms each time guests request it. On the overall, everyone was courteous and helpful...
Restaurant Tip:
There's a small restaurant offering cheap meals just across the hotel for breakfast or late dinner.

The room is a bit small compared to the photos posted but it was relatively clean. I think the hotel is new. There were no elevators and we were on the 3rd floor. There's free wifi though so it's all good.

the room is very tidy and the furnitures are new. the staff are friendly. the only bit of problem is they don't have elevators, so if your room is on the third level, you have to take the stairs which not very bad except when you are rushing. also, i would not recommend this for family esp if with young children. the rooms are just enough to accommodate two to three persons. more than that it will be too crowded. the restroom is a bit small as well but not bad. this hotel is very budget friendly and is near the restaurants.
Travel tip:
I recommend this hotel to couples on budget.

Advertising for this hotel is very good--it's new and the name connotes some quiet and refreshing place where one can relax and even meditate. But, the first room we were given was dark, musty and felt old and overused. We asked for a room with windows, and the staff was gracious about providing one. Still, the room feels like it's at least five years old--linens, towels are old (I'm thinking they were ironed while still damp). You hear the street noise and conversations in the corridor and lobby. There are no organizers--bathroom fixtures--to put things on. Housekeeping cleaned our room even though we put the 'do not disturb' sign on the doorknob, and cleaning was not thorough--i.e., shower curtain was not let down after the clean-up and tissue and soap are not provided daily, we had to keep asking for them. The hotel is too expensive for just providing room and bed. Other hotels provide breakfast (for the amount we paid) and a mini bar.
Hotel Feature Tip:
There is wifi in the lobby--slow,but puede na--but not enough tables and privacy. People hang out there and are really noisy.

Basic Modern Hotel in the Heart of the City

I highly recommend North Zen Hotel for those people who are in a budget but yet would want a suitable place to stay. Room is small yet has all the things you need - cold aircon, flatscreen tv with cable, comfortable bed, hot and cold shower,wifi access and even a cabinet with hangers. Also, the hotel itself is new with a modern touch to it. Frontdesk personnel are very pleasing and accommodating. Even the bellboy and security guard were very helpful. What's more is that its near to a shopping center called Gaisano Mall. Only 5 minutes away. I will definitely go back to North Zen hotel if I get the chance.
Restaurant Tip:
Head to Cafe Demitasse along F. Tuason Street. Get the biggest and most scrumptious banoffee pie there with brewed coffee. You'd certainly go back for it.

Quiet hotel, great location

I spent just over 2 weeks at this hotel using the agoda deal to grab a Zen Suite for just $40 per night. This was great value as the room was a good size and the facilities in the room were more than adequate for our needs. The bed was spacious and comfortable enough for us both, even with my larger frame. However the provided blanket is not large enough to cover two people, a second is easily obtained though. The room had an air conditioner which was very useful as it is really warm in Davao.
Unusually the Zen Suiite was on the ground floor, and as such there was no window in the room to see anything outside, this is a minor complaint though. The room was kept very clean by the staff and water was provided every second day which was helpful, the in room fridge was also handy to keep these cold.
The hotel is in a great location in Davao city and very convenient to get to most points of interest. All malls are simply short cab rides away, these are usually quite inexpensive, with SM being farthest away at just 130PHP. Gaisano mall is a simply walk or motorbike ride away.
Food choices are great too as there is a chinese restaurant just around the corner and a burger place just next to that. Both are well priced and the food is of good quality. The hotel also has a cafe next door and they will deliver to your room if you wish.
Overall a great reasonably priced hotel that I would happily stay in again
Hotel Feature Tip:
There is a laundry opposite the hotel but they are usually extremely busy and can take 2 days to do the loads, there are others nearby which offer 4 hour service at just 25php per kilo.
