Perfect for quiet vacation, also great for divers
Very safe location, owner PJ runs a very reasonable priced dive boat and shop, nice quiet and relaxing family atmosphere

This hotel is very small with simple cozy huts. Stayed a full week and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The hotel was wonderfully quiet and the owners make it feel like your own house. I contacted the owners ahead of my stay to get very good directions to the hotel including the usual transportation costs. Whatever you do, regardless of whether you stay at this hotel, I strongly recommend you to contact the owner PJ if you are interested in scuba diving to see the beautiful Samal corals.

Excellent resort, bang for the buck!!!
Everything about the resort is excellent!!!

A very personalized experience provided by the owners and staff, I would recommended this resort to anyone I know. The Croque is so lovely at any time of the day . The food that they serve is fresh and you might get a change to see the owner cook for you who happens to be a Belgian. Celebrated my Birthday at the resort and it's one of the best birthdays I had. Everything you need would be at the resort, food, booze, free wifi, cable tv and a swimming pool.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Try their island tour package, another bang for the buck. Samal Watersports Center, which is also owned by Samal Island Huts located.

Excellent!!
Very comfortable room & very helpful and kind hosts
9.7
Samal Island Huts is a small (just three "huts"), privately owned and run hotel. It is tucked away up a small road approximately 1 km from the sea. The little compound in which the huts are located is very pleasant and cosy whilst the rooms themselves are spacious and nicely kitted out.
The owner and his wife make all the guests feel very welcome and nothing is too much trouble. On multiple occasions he offered to pick me up or drop me off at various locations around the island.
A nice feature of the hotel is that there are mopeds available for the guests to borrow to explore the island by themselves.
He also owns and runs the only dive shop on the island. This is very professionally run, extremely well organised, has quality equipment and is very good value.
All in all, Samal Island Huts is a top notch place to stay and I cannot recommend it highly enough.
Restaurant Tip:
Paradise Island resort - about a 15 minute walk away - has a good restaurant on the beach and live music every night.

booking at this hotel was the best decision we made on our trip. everything about it was lovely. our typical day would involve waking up and having a wonderful complimentary prepared by their wonderful chef. later we would begin exploring the island or the city of davao, or go snorkeling with other guests of the hotel. we never got the feeling like we were imposing on anyone and pj and his wife kimmy went out of their way to help make sure we had a great time. including kimmy grilling a habal habal driver who was going to take us around the island to make sure he was a decent guy! they were patient as our very naughty 5 year old boy was accidentally breaking soda bottles or being loud when we were swimming. they made us feel like we weren't guests, but close friends, and that's something you can't find in many places. i could not recommend this place enough.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
The Montfort Bat Cave was amazing as were the waterfalls, but I would suggest going into the fruit market and trying all the wonderful fruits that they have to offer. Also, if you want an honest and good habal habal driver to give you a fair price to take you around the island as a guide, try Lloyd. His number . You won't be disappointed.

Service, homeliness, good food and watersports!
impeccable huts, super-friendly people, best cooks in town!
9.7
We discussed how things would look like if we would start a small resort ourselves: small, homely, giving the traveller the idea he is home, welcome, comfortable. Excelling in good food, simplicity but spic and span, new things and a helpful host who makes you feel as if nothing is any trouble at all. And then we visited Samal Island Huts. The owners, PJ and his wife, simply made that dream come true already. Brand new airco, tidy beds, good plumming and a big hot shower, laundry service and clean towels whenever you need them! The resort is very small, but offers a grand choice of watersports: snorkling, island hopping, diving, to name a few. Or you can take the bike to the falls or the bat cave, or walk the 200 meters to one of the bigger resorts with a beachline. Karaoke at night? of course that's possible! PJ's kitchen can boast on the best roast, and fingerlickingly good swordfish if available.
A BIG recommendation! PJ, we love you man!

Great little place with even better hosts!
Small and intimate, very cozy and relaxing
9.7
Our hosts were the nicest folks. They were friendly, courteous, and most of all, very hospitable. The place was very clean and very nice. One of the days we were there, the electricity went out for the island and immediately offered to take us to a bigger hotel that will have a generator going but we declined. The electricity came back on later that day and we resumed everything as we planned.

It was such a wonderful experience. We had the place all to ourselves. It was very private place. We were getting all the attention we needed from the resort attendants. Wonderful, honest people. I have no complaints. I will want to come back again.
