since it's away from the city the hotel has fresh air, good scenery , lot's of plant to really enjoy nature
The hotel is really old. The room we got has a broken exhaust fan and malfunctioning aircon. There's no safety deposit box inside the room and ref/minibar was locked.
The hotel was fully booked during that time due the PCL convention. Maybe that why we got a room with no view, booked at farthest end of Building 3, but overall our stay was okay.

It is difficult to identify good points with this hotel. My last stay was over 10 years ago and I remember it being a pleasant place to spend a couple of nights
The hotel identifies itself as having 3 restaurants, but during my stay I learned that the nightly buffet restaurant is closed during the week. ASo your only alternative is to eat a limited meal at the bar or go to their fine dining restaurant which is on an abandoned boat anchored away from the hotel. I understand the reason the boat is abandoned. The food menu was limited to about 5 main items and I really felt while dining that I was on an abandoned boat. At the dinner hour I was the only guest. The rooms are in need of repair and the staff is marginal in service. I tried to change some local currency to smaller bills only to be told the cashier had limited funds so they could not make change for me, which left me with alrge bills for the taxis driver who ended up not having change. What a mess...
Overall I would give the Waterfront Davao a rating of 2 stars at the most. I have stayed at their sister hotel, Waterfront Cebu, which is an excellent hotel with an upscale decor. This hotel is lacking in all areas to include, rooms, restaurants, food quality, customer services, and gym facilities. Unless everything else is booked in town and you must travel to davao, I would recommend staying in Manila, Cebu or Boracay.

Proximity to airport, downtown areas and Samal Island across the channel; peace and quiet; greenery and nature setting; exquisite in-house restaurants and bars
Infrastructure showing signs of aging; air-conditioning system antiquated and loud; nice beachfront but beach decommissioned?
Davao's best seaside hotel basks in Southern Mindanao's fair, typhoon-free weather, replete with greenery and nature and all the peace and quiet travelers need at the end of the day. It is close to the international airport, the business shopping and entertainment enclaves downtown, as well as pristine Samal Island just across the channel. If you want to stay put, there are a number of exquisite in-house restaurants and bars, so you don't need to get in a cab to wine and dine. Its far-from-new infrastructure is showing some signs of aging, however. The air-conditioning system is antiquated and loud. It has a nice beachfront but beach has long been decommissioned and no longer recommended for wading and swimming in, but then again Samal Island is just minutes away...
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Samal Island only minutes across the channel, Pirata Bar by the jetty

Location, Location, Location,
Swimming pool water too warm, food & beverage weak service, and presentation, costs too high for drinks..
Great location in Davao, view of Samal, and Pearl Farm Resort, walks on the beach, security a premium at this property, but food and drink presentation, internet technology, sub standard and overall service needs review. Never saw or meet leadership, GM or such, property needs work...Be careful..

the hotel was clean and the grounds were just beautiful set right on the water with palm trees and black sand beach. A really first class swimming pool , the dining room was first class with great service .
I could not fault anything with this ideal holiday destination
The waterfront is exactly that a beautiful resort right on the water , sit by the pool and watch the ships go by or watch men climb the palm trees every day harvesting a local viniger. This hotel is a little old but it has been kept in areally good state. The staff are first rate and very friendly especially a lady in charge of breakfasts called gigi . Set well back from the busy road amongst huge grounds you wont be disappointed we cant wait to go back
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : travel by boat to paradise beach set on sambel island low cost beautiful sunsets

The grounds are spectacular. The staff is the best, very friendly. Great food.
When they have outdoor weddings on the grounds you hear all the music from every room whether you like the music or not.
I have stayed at several other hotels in Davao and will now only patron this hotel. The staff is the best in the city. THe food is excellant. The service is to be commended. The hotel offers a secure private atmosphere and the staff and hotel will work with the client to provide every need wanted. Room service is provided 24hrs a day. So is laundry service. Several different restaurants to choose from and service like no other in the city. From the Insular you can enjoy Island Hopping or relaxing at the Pirate Bar. Then enjoy live music in the Vinta Bar.
Hotel Feature Tip : The pirate bar for dinner with friends.

Near Airport, Not bad beach & food
Had problems with toilet blocking and aircons did not work properly. Far from Town & any other sightseeing
Not bad value for money, for Davao. Rooms were OK but aircons did not work well at all and toilet in one bathroom kept blocking. Food was good and service just so so. Had to get the hotel staff to trim a big tree blocking the view of the ocean from our suite. Hotel is near airport but too far from town and or other sightseeing places which are mainly on the other side of Davao.

too far from town and sightseeing places. Aircon did not work well
Rooms were nice and comfortable except for blocking toilet in one room. Hotel is not being maintained properly and badly in need and refurbishing. Had to get staff to cut down major part of trees blocking our view of ocean from our suite. Aircons in room not working well. Food was OK but staff performance not great.

The restaurant does a fresh home made pizza that is great! The staff are warm and quite friendly. The pool is great - definitely deep enough as it provides ample depth that you won't hit bottom if you try a little diving !

I was extremly disappointed with the buisness office. They are not honest and charged too much time and in addition a payment of 50 PHP per page for printing.
For my 9 page printing it would be cheaper to take a taxi into the city and do it in an Internet cafe! I felt like I was cheated.
