location
well..i stayed already a few times at waterfront but this time it was the last.the hotel is now realy worn down. the breakfast was very substandard..4 days always the same and the breakfast room smell so bad that you want to change your cloth after having breakfast...dinner was a desaster..just warm up food from the mikrowave..nothing fresh prepaired..the swimmingpool super dirty and always have to ask to clean it. the staff very untrained and some a little dumb when it come to answer questions about locations.. only the location is ok..with the upcoming new hotels in davao waterfront is no choise anymore

not so bad hotel
i like the fact that any time of the day i can get a taxi ride in a minute
i like the fact that the hotel is near sm lanang. the hotel is clean but not much of staffs. the room that was given to us was so far from the main entrance, i was thinking since it was not a direct booking thats why they did that. the room itself was okay clean and all but the hall wall looks scary. the view from our veranda was the creek of the hotel it was an eye sore. the food for breakfast was just okay not much choice.

Wide open space with many trees, value for money
We had an great time staying in this hotel,my kids enjoyed their dip at the pool. We had a great time strolling around the lovely garden. Breakfast was also nice with many choices of food. Staff are very courteous and helpful. Overall we enjoyed our stay on this hotel and we will definitely come back here.

Peaceful, bright and clean hotel
it has a beachfront. lots of open spaces, accessible to the island resorts
insular hotel has been there for a very long long time and i love it very very much. it has undergone needed repairs and refurbishings and new bright lights have brought it back to life!!

Small but nice location
Very nice location
Although the hotel room is small, what is very nice in this hotel is its location. It' is strategically located such that a lot of shops are very near this place. Different eating places are actually in the lower floors of the hotel.

Great property; somewhat pricey
Nice room, if in need of some maintenance. Great view. Polite and helpful staff.
As a business traveler I was slightly uncomfortable staying at the Waterfront Insular -- but it would be a great place to stay with your sweetheart. The grounds are spacious and well tended; my room was similarly large. Although it was in need of superficial maintenance the room was very comfortable, with 'just right' king bed, cozy duvet, desk and .. best of all ... a large balcony with a view of the strait and Samal Island. The 'beach' is dirty, despite daily efforts of the staff to clean up the refused washed up overnight. Perhaps offsetting the 'beach' is the large swimming pool and deck -- excellent for spending lazy moments escaping the Davao heat. At first, I was taken aback with the prices in the restaurants, since they are substantially higher than many Davao eateries. However, I must say that the (included) breakfast buffet, and the (somewhat pricey) lunch buffets were absolutely stocked full of fresh and tasty foods, and the wait staff was eager to serve with speed and graciousness. Some may find the location to be of concern. It is several km from the city business section. However, I prefer the location, since this small oasis is isolated from the noise of the city. Taxis were available almost immediately, and the additional fare was nominal.
