The Frequent Helicopter Hotel
Close to airport
Across a major shopping mall - easy walking distance.

I might stay there again if I have no choice, but I want to make sure that my room doesn't have a full view of a very busy noisy helipad. Need more towels. Housekeeping has to be taught the art of bed making. They rush making the beds so that the sheets are messy and dangling.
Travel tip:
Avoid the rooms in proximity to the helipad.

Restaurant Tip:
If you will be looking to a Japanese restaurant, you can find a lot like Furusato which is a few blocks away but believe me, try to eat at Century Tsukiji.. very nice place, very good japanese foods, very nice staffs...

If all you're going to do is stay in the hotel and not incur any other incidental expenses, the hotel is a pretty much nice place to stay overall.
Restaurant Tip:
There are a lot of restaurants nearby which are a lot less expensive. Harborview is full of restaurants and coffeeshops, with a very nice view of the bay and the yachts in Manila Bay, cheaper, and is only a block away from the hotel.

A Nice Stay for a nice price

I'd definitely stay here again. Since we were not that familiar with Manila, it's location made it easy to get around with a simple downtown map. The price was reasonable, the local neighborhood was clean and safe even at night. A cheap taxi ride would get you to lots of different locations in MAnila.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
We did the Corrigedor tour - don't buy tix at the hotel - walk down to the pier (just past the Cultural Center) and buy them there. The hotel uses a travel agent - tickets are twice the price ($ 90 v $ 45).
