Over rated, mouse sized food portions and cold breakfast Buffets.
The restaurant meal sizes or portions, are good for a small mouse but not an adult. The food is excellent quality so the chef knows how to cook, but he has no care or concern about portion size. I only weight 85 Kg and have been here for 5 days so far, and not one meal was enough to satisfy my hunger. I complained by telling them that I am an adult and not a little mouse! They promised to make sure portion sizes are regular at at the least, but that promise was false. Breakfast Buffet is a different story. The cooks ( and they can't possibly be chefs' because chefs' understand the difference between hot and cold food) cannot make a tasty omelette, fried egg or even toast. All other HOT foods are actually COLD. They have no facilities to keep the hot Buffet food hot, so a Westerner will not enjoy the food at the Diamond, because we like to eat hot food; not hot food left to go cold before service. Arriving at the breakfast buffet at 6.00am makes no difference to the food temperature, which means they start cooking very early and just leave it go cold before they fill the buffet bowls. Making a complaint to the duty manager about this odd situation had no effect. If McDonalds were nearby I would be much happier, but there is nothing nearby in the morning except street cart food vendors, which I will use from now on because they do serve hot food and adult sized portions. Otherwise, it is a clean, neat hotel with all facilities a 5 star should have, except for staff who know how to care for guests. It is certainly not quiet in my room 1417, and I think they have a workshop or laundry or kitchen next door because they are extremely noisy in there. I think the Diamond is bad value for the money no matter how pretty it is. I hope I never have to stay here again, because for 3 years now I have only lived in hotels and holiday apartments.
