my stay at the lotus garden was fine.......everything was good...rooms,aircon,staff,food,service and position.i stayed on 2 occasions here...the only possible complaints about this hotel are the smell of smoke(at times)when you enter and the mini bar fridge on my 2nd stay did not work and when it was replaced was barely cold....while saying that my first room had a very cold fridge.....might sound petty but most travellers like a cold drink in their room after being out all day.......i would be more than happy to stay here again!!
Nightlife Tip:
If you are looking for a decent bar to have a relaxing drink or play some pool and watch some sport try the butterfly bar (not tacky or sleazy) close by on the next street(del mar or something like that...very close walk)australian and german themes...local beer only 55 pesos....I was also told the oarhouse near robinsons is also good for expats...good music and staff

Great Hotel - Kind of a noisy Neighborhood

we stayed here twice on our trip and both stays were short but nice. neighborhood is noisy and crowded but we still slept well. there are a few aggressive beggars which are not threatening but it does get a little tiring dealing with them each time you walk out the door.
Travel tip:
Lots of great restaurants in the area.

The Hotel was ok and the room was confortable. BUT...
When you pay for a deluxe room, and spend a certain ammount you are expecting more than ok, and we didn't find it. We consider that for much less money you can get very similar quality.
The breakfeast was very poor, and many things had finished and weren't replaced.
Worst of all: we had our intercontinental night flight that day, so we checked out and left the luggage in the hotel. In the end of the day (spent walking in Manila) we asked if we could use the shower in the gym for a quick refreshment before the big trip. The ansewr was NO! The reason: we were already check-out. Of course if we had a room we would never ask that. For the money we spent that was a minimum they could allow, with no cost associated, only a positive image. Even other clients we spoke with were very surprised when we commented that with them. So,we don't recomend the hotel unless the price asked is very low.

lowest price room in ermita/malate with a gym

stayed here for two nights. the hotel is in mabini street and the area is rough and gritty part of manila. there are elements of red light district, a lot of people living in poverty/sleeping on the street and a lot of beggars. so although it is close to manila bay, robinson mall, and us embassy, if you want more sanitized area in the city i would stay in makati. i always liked malate/ermita area because it is a hub for travelers with great nightlife and mall shopping with grittiness of southeast asian city. the hotel is very well run and family friendly. many middle income filipino travelers stay here. the gym is bit lacking, but for basic workout it is okay. i liked the free newspaper every morning and their filipino breakfast was really great (i like fish and rice for breakfast). if you are not used to filipino or asian style breakfast, then maybe it won't be so great. the wifi-fi connection was not bad. overall pretty good value lower mid-range lodging. room was clean, i felt safe and staff was very attentive.

A Good choice in Manila

A really nice hotel, located about five minute walk from Robninsons Mall.They did insist on having a copy of the Agoda voucher, but settled for an emailed copy, which seems pretty pointless. Asked to have first allocated room changed as it was over the very noisey road, no problem and moved to much quieter room.Rooms are a bit small and not as nice as those shown on the website, but well provisioned with comfy bed, Aircon, fridge, tea/coffee, TV and WiFi.Breakfast was buffet style and had lots of choice andwas very tasty. Would definately make this my hotel of choice in Manila though.
Travel tip:
Recommend taking the Yellow airport metered taxi's from the Airport to the city, very reliable and much cheaper than a pre paid taxi. Pay the extra 35pesos and take the skyway as well as it is so much quicker.
