Charming Hotel with Nice Service

we enjoyed our stay very much at the mabini mansion and were very suprised at the cleanliness and nice room we had after reading some of the negative comments posted by other patrons on this site. the fridge and stove were very useful as we purchased groceries and avoided eating in restaurants everyday. we were in manila for 4 days and visited ocean park, the mall of asia, which were close and toured luneta park by horse drawn carriage. unfortunately, from the time we arrived at the airport in manila until the time we left, all of the taxi drivers(most with no meters) and other service providers outrageously overcharged us and the area directly around the hotel on mabini street was crawling with beggars and other homeless living on the street and in tents around luneta park. my wife is a native filipina and was very concerned for our safety as we were constantly followed by beggars, with some of them physically touching me as my wife asked them to please stop in tagalog. yes, mabini mansion is a very charming hotel, but we felt like prisoners after our walking to and from robinsons mall the first day there. mabini street and the surrounding area is not for the foreign tourist.

They gave us a smoking room when I specifically stated in my booking receipt a non smoking room. when we checked in, they gave us the key, and assumed that we know the way towards our room, basically they didn't guide and assist us towards our room, which is peculiar because I've been to different hotels, and they are the only hotel who didn't assist their guests towards the room. The room they gave us is big with a kitchen. My husband saw a small rat running inside the room near the kitchen cabinets. which is a big question mark???? like what was that!???? but that only happened once. But due to the fact that I didn't pay much for this hotel its expected that its a low star type hotel and its near Manila Ocean Park so its still fine.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
walking distance (30 minutes) to Manila Ocean Park, and Rizal Park.

bit of a dive hotel, adequate for my stay

if you want an inexpensive efficiency room, this place is fine. large room with kitchen, sink, refrigerator. it's nothing fancy but it worked for me. staff was friendly and accommodating, contained restaurant very good convenient. free wifi in lobby/restaurant. not in room though.
note the electricity is not grounded - i had to buy an adapter ina shop 2 doors down and pray often. used my own surge protector brought from home and used my computer without problem, well, only blew out the room's fuses once and i'm not sure why. staff fixed quickly.
2 blocks from indoor, a/c robinson's shopping mall, food, working class shopping, fun people watching, great shopping, good way to spend the day.
Shopping Tip:
Robinson Mall two blocks away - Air conditioned, huge! Great stores, fun people watching, nice atmosphere, fair prices, supermarket for supplies, meet friendly people but don't get sucked in to buy a father baby formula, be firm but polite, just say no and get lost to him.

Be careful to book hotel picture in the Internet are good to be true, but reality but fool with a nice presentation in the Internet picture, be careful hotel mabini mansions need to update all furniture are too old like in the 70s we are now in the 20 century , what you pay is what you get with free extra roach, ants, dirty nasty kitchen utensils, dirty table never clean just like someone eaten in the table and leave the mess until a new guest found out like me , I never expect how dirty this hotel, bed are yucky to sleep, roach keep running in the ceiling and the wall, front desk okey but not great, the security are too scary , don't trust this people seems like door are very easy to break in not a electronic key very scary you never know what is the next step you have done just think about what you have to do the next day, I can,t sleep due to you never know if someone will be enter to your door without your knowledge. Beware and almost observed this hotel.
Travel tip:
What you pay is what you get , with free roach, ants, dirty kitchen utensils, this hotel not providing anything except 2 towels, and 1 rug on the floor bathroom, no face towel, if you ask extra pillows you have pay extra, no ironing board, as soon you enter the door try to look back in the refrigerator are too dirty, utensils provided are yucky, see under the bed are too much dust, back of lampshade are too dusty as well, telephone bad smell e handle, chair provided, beware to seat you might get skin disease,

Well, this hotel isn't the best hotel I've stayed at, but I didn't pay much for my stay either. The room was very large with a kitchen area and living room area with a couch and a table. However, the room looks like it hasn't been renovated in the last 25 years and there were ant-like insects crawling around. The location and the price are excellent, though.

i will advise this hotel to everybody , traveller,or tourist comming to visit the philippines and specially manila because you have a good room ,nice service, and always friendly staff to help you and all of this for price _ also the situation of the mabini gives you all the facilities to visit the nearby rizal park and the old spanish remainings and also very easy for shopping to the robinson shop and others. thanks everybody in mabini you are all fantastic !!!

Lovely hotel and service with a smile

the hotel location in manila. the nice & pleasant view outside of the city from the patio. it was a good price for the room. lot of space with a small living room. i enjoyed my stay. i wouldn't mind going back for the price. it was close to many retail places. i would recommended a good place to saty for the night. have a nice day.
