the check in was done at the club level, no need to queue up if the one at the main registration lobby is crowded.
great service from the staff at the club lounge.
location of this hotel is great, did not experience bad traffic going to and from the hotel.

This hotel is very nice and close to all stores and the night life of manila on Bourgos street. You also have very mnay choices of restaurants as well as coffee shops to choose from near this hotel. All is walking distance so there is no long drives to get places. The staff is also very helpful and courtious to all your needs. After all said, I dont beleive this a 5 star...

The Mandarin in Makati is definitely in need of an upgrade, the rooms and definitely the concrete exterior need some cleansing and colour.
The service leveles are excellent throughout from front desk to restaurants to house keeping and even the poolside.
the location is perfect if you are doing business in makati, or want to go shopping at glorieta / sm mall or if you want great restaurants and interesting night life at greenbelt.
the pool is excellent, nice sorrounds, both shallow and deep water entry, only problem is the pool area gets completely shaded by 2pm by the hotel tower... maybe the architects should have thought about that....
Overall a great hotel with central location and excellent service.. in need of refurbishment soon..

The Chinese Restaurant has a scintillating menu. The food and and service are great. I discovered this restaurant during my most recent stay.

The hotel needs major renovation

I'm a big fan of the Mandarin Oriental properties and this by far is the worst property I've ever stayed in.
My room needed a MAJOR renovation to keep up with other hotels in the area. The bathroom was not clean, there were cracks everywhere, the air conditioning vents were not clean, the carpet was coming up from the corner, really gross!
Although the service is exactly the same as it is in all the other cities, that is what at least made up for it.
Save your money and stay someplace else if you like modern accommodations.

Although this Mandarin is in need of some TLC, the staff and amenities make up for any physical short comings. The location is convenient to business and shopping centers in Makati and Rockwell. The rooms are spacious and comfortable featuring large bathrooms with tubs. The staff here is the best.
Travel tip:
There is convenient shopping and excellent restaurants at near by Greenbelt shopping complex. There is also a nice cluster of local restaurants in the Triangle Park across Makati Ave. Bistro Mondo on nearby Durban St. serves delicious wood fired pizza.
