Nothing

Guests have to be recd. in a bar. No Lobby. All furniture look very old and not in order and pay a higher price compared to other hotels.

This was my first saty in Mandarin and decided not to stay there in future. It has no five star look. Everything is so old . At the reception, there is no place to sit or receive your guests. The fittings in rooms are not conveniently done to the guests. Eg see how the dryer is fixed and the length of the wire.Floors are not clean.I will not suggest Mandarin for the price. I was in 9th level. May be only for Agoda guests due to low pricing.

Friendly Staff

Badly in need of renovation

I have been staying in this hotel on and off for the last 10 years. I like the ambience and the friendly attitude of the staff. The food is excellent. However, the furnishings and the amenities in the room is in dire need of replacement if the hotel is to retain its 5 Star status. I will not want to stay there again.

Restaurant Tip : The buffet dinner is great.

easy walking distance to the glorietta shopping mall

hotel needs upadating.

Mandarin oriental manila was a so so experience in my opinion as i was expecting more in keeping with the "mandarin " name. upon check in i was allocted a room and found a cockroach running amock, so i requested a room change. then i was given nother room on a different floor which was right opposite the lifts, so was noisey and the quality of the room was not as good as the 1st. i asked to be changed again and was "upgraded" to a so called club room on the 16th floor. The quality was even poorer than the previous two. All the rooms i was allocated were worn and tired and in dire need of serious updating. The staff were very polite and courteous, but always tried to persuade me to take the hotel taxi whic cost 10 x as much as the metred taxi. This hotel is well located and within walkin g distance to the glorietta shopping mall with loads of restaurnts, bars, shopping and entertainment. watch out for the metred taxi for from the airport and sk for the driver to turn on his metre because it should only cost btween 150 - 200 pesos to get to the hotel.

Good value for money, excellent spa, great staff, good location

Reception area small, lounge bar/ballroom needs renovation

The Mandarin is an old favourite set in the heart of Manila. Although it does not offer quite the grandness of the Shangri-la or Peninsula, it is a very comfortable hotel with outstanding service and very good value for money. It could benefit from a renovation of the ground floor bar/ballroom but the cafe is excellent for braekfast/lunch. The Spa and health facilities are also top class.

5 star hotel, location and price

there should be centralized AC instead of just the rooms. There was no ac in the hallways of the building.

The hotel was good overall, everything was clean, the location was great and the food was good. The receptionists was helpful and friendly. The food was great and room service is prompt. The only concern i had was that the hallways is a bit warm an suffocating as there is no AC at the hallway on the way to your room. so, choice a room close to the lifts. Price is reasonable due to it's 5 star status. And i also almost got away with a free breakfast but i felt guilty for not saying anything knowing that the the receptionist would wear the cost of that breakfast if i walk out of the hotel without paying. Very comfortable king bed aswell.

Hotel Feature Tip : room is so comfy, it makes you just want to stay and relax.

Friendly Staff, hotel in great condition still. Excellent security, felt very safe and secure at hotel always. Very well presented staff.

Not much dislikes, only complain, outside hotel room in hallways, no aircon, or temperatures quite hot. Lobby fine, but i noticed hallways to be quite hot.

I have stayed Mandarin Oriental in few locations now and always experience. Fantastic location, close to shops, restaurants, massage, bars. There is something for everyone nearby this hotel. I stayed in manila for personal break, hotel covers the personal travelers like myself, but is fantastic for business travelers. I will definitely return and stay and happy to recommend. Be careful of the meter taxi’s from the hotel though, I caught a few who are dishonest. Not hotel’s fault, just typical experiences with taxi’s you get around the world. Overall, not much to fault the Mandarin Oriental with. Happy to recommend

Nightlife Tip : Not far from hotel, Greenbelt area. This area is very pretty at night, good mix of people, wide variety of restaurants and entertainment. Only about 1km from hotel or a 50peso taxi ride. Also lots of good shopping can be done there.

Service and Location

Standard/Superior rooms are lackluster and significant value in terms of room quality and comfort can be found at other premium hotels with less brand/name recognition

Though the Oriental Mandarin holds a premium brand image and recognition there is much left to be desired in terms of room comfort and amenities. The service is top notch but better value can be found at other hotels within this class

Service, quality of F&B.

Some of the features in my room are tired and could use some light touch-up work.

Overall a positive experience. Quality and variety of food served in the various restaurants is satisfactory. Check-in and check-out procedures were speedy and accurate.

Nightlife Tip : Additional choice of bars and restaurants in nearby Greenbelt area.

Location, ambience, decor, quietness, amenities, dining -all as expected from a Mandarin Oriental

The lobby is quite small but that's about all the criticism I could find

By Manila standards the price to stay at the Mandarin Oriental is expensive, so you would expect the standard to be very good, and I was not disappointed. Anyone who has experienced staying at a Mandarin Oriental hotel would find the standard in Manila is equivalent to elsewhere - well sized room, quiet, well apppointed in every way; excellent hotel facilities and a first class fine dining restaurant. I'd have no hesitation staying there again (but nor would I hesitate to go back to the Peninsula, Shangri La or Dusit Thani)

Restaurant Tip : I had a meal at a fine dining restaurant and chose a menu with wines included - the total cost including taxes was around 4500 Pesos, so not cheap - but as good a food and wine experience as I have had anywhere in the world.

Good location, friendly and helpful staff, nice rooms.

Disappointing breakfast, worse than other Mandarin Hotels in other cities.

The Mandarin Oriental Manila is conveniently located in Makati area. You can walk to the main shopping areas and dining places. The hotel itself is nice but doesn't have the special touch you would expect from a luxury hotel. For instance, the breakfast was disappointing. When going back to Manila we will try another hotel.

Restaurant Tip : Try the nearby Sala restaurant. Lovely!

Any time you are in the Philippines beware of taxi fee rip-offs. Require that the taxi have a metered fare. First ask a local what a normal fare should be to get to your destination.

Awesome service, great staff, great room

A little bit on the pricy side but well worth the $

The staff @ this location were execellent in attending to our needs from the minute we arrived at the hotel. The entire staff treated us and other guests with the most upscale attitude that one can ask for. This has been one of the best hotels that I've stayed at worldwide.

Shopping Tip : Green belt and other malls are not that far away. Take a taxi would be more suitable than walking due to the climate

Guests might also want to try the Deli - yummy cakes, and a great place for a a quiet meal or snack. The salon is also fine.

The service in the M.O. is excellent. Everyone acknowledges you with a smile. This trip I had a problem with a leak in the bathroom. My room was changed without an issue.

Would definitely stay here again. Truly a five-star hotel.

Shopping Tip : The Glorietta Mall is just a short five-minutes or less taxi ride away or a nice 10-15 minute walk will get you there.
