Shopping Tip: the shuttle service is fantastic with drop off and pick up service to the best shopping spots.

Great Hotel-Not so great area

Hotel as everything you need!

A pleasant hotel but in the wrong area of town. The afternoon traffic is a nightmare ........... and the cabbies don't like going in unless you make it worth their while. Normally a P50-100 'tip' on top does the trick. The hotel itself is great. The food is excellent and the facilities are more than adequate. Only a short walk to a major shopping mall and a 7-11 across the road. Would I stay there again???? Only if I needed to be down that end of town.

You need to be armed to be here

The staff, very accommodating doorman and security guards

Booked a one night stay with a room without windows and it was the scariest experience to be inside a room - it was like movie set for people committing suicide. Maybe the room with the window might be better. And breakfast buffet - they serve spaghetti. Who eats pasta in the mornings? Food was terrible, I'm really sorry. Lastly, everyone was right - the surroundings are scary and not safe. You feel like anyone is just going to grab you and mug you. It is not even cheap. I could certainly get something else at the same price with better surroundings.

Nice Staff

The Staff is simply wonderful
4.7
The management of this hotel is not worty of such a wonderful and capable staff. One day they forgot to clean my room which was okay but I just ask for the water and towels. I got charged for the water and a steeps price too! Breakfast is a joke. The management does not provide the materials and food to make it a decent breakfast. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: Nothing in this area and it just feels unsafe.

I loved this hotel for its very special charme

Funny hotel - great location in the chaos of Manila Santa Cruz Chinatown
7.3
This is a special hotel, in a special place, for special people. I recommend it for those Westerns who want to taste the real filipino ambiance, in the former Opera House building. A lot of fiestas in the hall every night, funny characters around. Don't expect anything luxurious. The hotel lobby and the rooms are just okay. The staff is nice and friendly. The breakfast is more for Filipinos rather than Westerns. Don't be shy, be a bit pushy to get what you want and you will get it. Outside the hotel it is a chaos at any hour of day and night, but it is very interesting to watch. The air it's not so clean of course. The hotel is very close to the MRT-LRT network, very clean and efficient, by which you can reach to any town of the huge Metromanila.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: In the Santa Cruz neighborhood there's the oldest chinatown in the world. There are very good chinese restaurants all around. Take a tricycle and go for those that look more offhand.
