Walking distance from the Ocean Park. The staff are very friendly and the food is very good, the sinigang na baboy was really perfect.
the rooms needs refurbishing.
The Manila Hotel is one of the oldest hotels in the Phils.,very historical. One of the staff toured us to the John Mac Arthur suite, where JM stayed for almost 6 years. Some of his medals and other memorabilias are still on displayed. The Lobby is quite impressive and the hallways picture perfect...
I like the food, the native cuisine we ordered for room service was excellent, " lutong bahay". The breakfast buffet choices also brought back some memories... the daing na bangus, tinapa, lugaw etc.But I wish they have the pork tocino...

Like no other hotel, takes you back to what you imagine the 1920's colonial rule was like.
Decor is old and staid, but in return you get character and very little plastic like the new modern hotels
I have stayed here before, but now the swimmimg pool area has been refurbished and fully open. The staff are a joy and always smiling and the hotel food is fantastic. The rooms are basic and need TLC, but are clean. Try and get a room over looking the bay area.
Restaurant Tip : Pop down the road to the Harbour seafood restaurant, cheap and full of Filipino cusine.

Overwhelming service, decent breakfast buffet, reasonably priced
Bath linen limited to two ... could use extra bathtowels. No unoccupied taxi allowed so had to fetch own from the streets or wait for returning guests that can be long ... NOTE: Watch out for the taxi touts quoting extraordinarily high rates.
Nice hotel located within reach of NAIA, Mall of Asia and other places of leisure. Did not try the internet but is may have a price attached to it. Will stay again at a discounted rate.
Shopping Tip : Try the Mall of Asia ... more shops and eatery that you've ever seen.

Good location, excellent staff.
rooms are dated and need uplifting, but are still clean and acceptable.
the hotel is nicely located in old manila... close to areas to visit. Rooms are dated and need to be upgraded. Staff is excellent and breakfast is very good buffet. fitness and pool are being upgraded currently so were unavailable for use during my visit. A small complaint I have is the lack of assistance if you want a metered taxi. They leave only option of more expensive hotel transportation and you either have to just wait for metered taxi to drop off guest and get it then... or venture out away from hotel and run down taxi in street on your own.

Historic. Charming. Grand. Clean room. Nice view of the bay. Excellent service. Excellent food. Excellent massage service. Great educational tour of MacArthur Suite.
Building needs TLC, better renovation to make facilities more modern without losing the integrity of its historic, Old World, grand architecture.
The grand Manila Hotel that I remember from my childhood has not lost its charm. The lobby has not lost its grandeur, even if it apparently lost its upscale clientele, who most likely are now patronizing the newer, more luxurious hotels that rose within the last two decades. Hotel security is very tight, which makes guests feel very safe, though it can be a hassle having to go through security each time you come into the hotel. Our room was charming, with old, dark wood giving it an Old World feel, bringing you back to a time when Manila Hotel was the grandest hotel in Manila. We had a nice view of the bay. The staff, clad in charming Filipino folk attire, were very courteous and helpful. They even went out of their way to accommodate our request for a tour of the MacArthur Suite beyond the stated hours. (We took the tour after dinner, around 8 p.m.) The money we paid for the hotel was very much worth it even just for that educational tour. The food, especially their breakfast buffet, is excellent, just as how I remembered it when I attended events at the hotel in my youth. What a pleasant surprise to know they had massage service. The older lady masseuse was great and she had a Hilot's touch. The massage room is located next to the hotel's own clinic, manned by an inhouse nurse (so if you ever have any medical concerns you don't have to go outside the hotel). The only downside is that the hotel is not walking distance to shopping and other amenities like other luxurious hotels. The hotel also needs to be renovated and to make room for modern equipment (such as the elevators) and facilities, without compromising the integrity of its grand, Old World architecture. With some TLC, this hotel can easily, once again, be the grandest hotel in Manila.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The historical MacArthur Suite, which was the home of General MacArthur during World War II, is a must-see.

Great customer service. Great food. Old world charm. Great location.
Internet access is expensive, has a 1 hour minimum and does not allow the time to roll over.
My God...stay at this hotel! If you are a tourist it is the place for you. You are near to all major attractions in Manila, and the hotel staff can arrange for tours anywhere you wish to go. The breakfast buffet is one of the best in the Philippines. All of the restaurants serve great food at reasonable prices. If you want a taste of Old World Manila this is the place for you! A refreshing change from the Pen or the Shangri La (both nice properties). This is my go to place in Manila!! In fact I am booking 2 more nights right now!!!

The Lobby, Manila bay view of sunset, helpful staff
old rooms need some updating
Going back to the Manila hotel is a trip back in time for me. It's been 13 years since I stayed there but the grad lobby with capiz chandeliers, wide and comfortable sofas and Christmas decors still holds its charm. The staff are very friendly as they help you settle down in your room. Check-in was quick and accommodated by request for a King-sized bed on a top floor without any problems. Security is tight as they use X-ray scanners like the airport by the lobby! The view of the sunset in Manila bay is unparalleled. Breakfast was superb. Try the native dishes like pandesal, longganisa, and mangoes! You should book one Bay-side room. If you have the money, take the MacArthur Suite!

SErvice is impeccable, breakfast buffet was very good. THe security personel were incredibly solicitous. THe best shower I had in the 6 months I was in the Philippines.
check out process is antiquated. WE wanted to rebook a room but had to wait in yet another line to do so
THe Manila Hotel still exudes class. THe staff provides professional personable service and is attentive to your every need. We ate the Breakfast buffet and found it to be a very nice blend of taste and options. Try and get a room overlooking Rizal Park. WE are getting ready to book again and are looking forward to staying there!

the setting is outstanding still (lobby, dining rooms, harbor) and the service is efficient(room service,laundry...) rooms might be "outdated" but they have charm and are very spacious.Great views on harbor and sunset.
the location is not the best for business. The hotel taxi service is charging outrageous rates. Also internet charge is unreasonable even if it is common in the country.
Manila Hotel is still the most attractive Hotel in Manila for me :! good swimming pool , great views, gorgeous "colonial style" (the Champagne Room Restaurant is unmatched in style).I tried most of the 5 stars .Manila ,with its 4 stars is better and excellent value.Just don't take the Hotel cabs : wait a few minutes for normal cabs to drop passengers at front. They are 6 times cheaper and nearly as good!
Restaurant Tip : excellent restaurant near the Ocean Park ; the one which has a jetty to have you eat over the sea itself.

The manila hotel is still a charming place, especially when visiting there it was the beautiful x'mas decoration that made the lobby even more special. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are ok even a little worn down but still have style. The restaurant definitely needs a face-lift and the food is only average.

A little modification on the food.

The lobby entrance befits the name Grand. Front desk personnel, business center and both the Grill restaurant and normal dining room.
taxi if opting to use hotel taxi.
The lobby entrance befits the name Grand!! Of all the hotels I have stayed at(5 Star) over the last 2 years, this hotel represents "class". From the front desk to the dining room my experience was excellent. I would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Manila. By the way, there is an excellent seafood restaurant in walking distance.

Beautiful Hotel, over 100 years old. Many President of many countries stayed in this Hotel. Especially the view was great from the room. You can see the sea and Legal park.
A little bit smelly, cause it's very old. But quite O.K.
Great lobby. Very well educated and kind staffs. Very safe and perfect view from the room. I didn't use the swimming pool. But I heard that it's also great. The one thing that was uncomfortable was the traffic. We must use the taxi.

Staff are friendly, helpful, trustworthy and well trained. Rooms are nice and large. View was great, very clean and quiet. Transportation needs were assisted by staff. Hotel was beautiful, nice paintings.
When we checked in there was a fruit basket which we thought was great for a snack while watching tv. However after the fruit was gone they did not refill it for the rest of our stay which would not have been a big deal except for their sign saying don't bring food into hotel.
A great hotel! Old but well maintained and upgraded. Staff were great, very polite and friendly. They make sure that guests are happy and well attended to. The security is great, the taxi inspections going up to the hotel, although quick, made the airport's taxi security checks look like a joke. The hotel management ensures secure visit without being invasive. My only con was a fruit basket so you know there was nothing wrong with our stay! I would recommend for anyone to stay there, and even if you're not rich you should at least stay once on some special occasion, say a anniversary... your wife will love it. It's close to shopping malls and restaurants.
Travel tip : Take a Metered taxi from the Airport to hotel. It will save you money even if you have to wait in line for one.

This is a great hotel, fantastic service and a level of comfort above the rest. I love to stay here and simple feel it is absolute pleasure.
Rooms a little old and lifts a little slow - but really who cares with view over intramurous and the bay.
From the grand entrance to the tap room to the exquisite service to the views. What more is needed. Well for me this is the only hotel in Manila, it reeks of history and whilst it shows its age occassionally (it was opened in 1912 you know), it's old world charm is enchanting. The staff are friendly, helpful and just downright nice, it is a joy to stay here. Think of it, wake up early, have agreat breakfast at the grill, and walk over to intramurous and enjoy the history of the original spanish city. Back top the hotel before it gets to hot, into the pool and then - a game of golf, in view of the hotel in the afternoon - Sound like heaven - it is to me.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Intramurous - the old spanish city. From Fort Santiago to St Augusten church - a cultural overload.
