The hotel location is not too far away from the airport. Transportation is easy. Restaurants, parks, sightseeing and entertainment venues and shopping malls abound near this hotel. There is also good police visibility in the area. Elegant structure, warm Filipino hospitality, great food, great music, well-kept rooms, service with a smile and pocket-friendly rates are just some of the things that endeared this hotel to us even for such a short stay. It's worth every single penny.
For us, the hotel is doing great as it is. One thing we didn't like (and is not at all the hotel's fault) is the view of the Manila Bay from our room. We were expecting a breath-taking view of the famous bay but it slipped our minds that the bay was not as beautiful as it used to be. Too bad this could render some negative comments to the hotel. But hopefully the hotel will work together with the local authorities to act on this.
The Manila Hotel is very highly recommended to anyone who is seeking elegance, comfort and practicality. Being a five-star hotel that it is, it's still has pocket-friendly rates. It's worth every penny that you pay for -- from the well-kept rooms, to the warm and friendly Filipino staff, to the good-tasting food and to the overall nostalgic feel of the hotel itself. Anyone can stay here -- couples, family, friends, corporate people, an adventurer, a lone traveler and so on. It's not intimidating at all. We wished we could have stayed longer but nevertheless we look forward to another memorable experience there. It's definitely world class. It deserves its five-star hotel status.

room type, room locaton, food. everything was great!
there are no drainage in the bathroom outside the shower tub, so the bathroom floor is always wet.
i have a great stay!we attended a party thats why we stayed there,we have a room that has a vanity mirror that really worked for us, the room was spacious and had a view of the ocean!more than what i expected!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : ocean adventure is just nearby, rizal park, historical intramuros, and minutes from the mall

curtain drapes and some of the furniture
Manila Hotel has a very nice lobby, and big room also for a single person to check in, I really like that the shower room seperate to the toilet, the only ugly things I noticed is the bell man's uniform is old and rip, I think the management need to give them a new uniform to look more presentable.
Hotel Feature Tip : a very nice hotel to stay and I definitely im going back again.

Classy, historic, atmospheric hotel. Close to Intramuros, Manila Bay promenade, Ocean Park, museums, Ermita / Malate. Fantastic food. Great lobby.
Only thing I'd have changed would have been the number of people in the lobby - there was a conference going on, so the lobby area was always packed with people... not good when I wanted to take photo's of this beautiful old hotel.
This is one of the classic old hotels of Asia. It has the same status for The Philippines as Raffles in Singapore, The Galle Face in Sri Lanka, The Oriental in Bangkok. Of these it reminded me the most of The Galle Face Hotel in Colombo, Sri Lanka. You can see that there is some restoration needed (like The Galle Face), but the room I had was well appointed, had a fantastic view, huge comfortable bed, clean functional bathroom.
Like the Galle Face, it's situated on the bay with fantastic sunset views across the water. I would have loved to have stayed here at it's heights in the 1920's / 1930's.
Great food too.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Spend time in Intramuros - the old Spanish walled city - right next to the hotel. Walk around the walls. Go to San Augustin church and museum, Fort Santiago, the Rizal museum, Bahay Tsinoy and the Casa Manila. The best craft shop in Manila, "Silahis", can be found here, along with a great restaurant / cafe - the Ilustrado.

metered cabs can not come up to the hotel unless they are dropping people off.
The Manila Hotel offers all the great amenaties and comforts of any 5 star hotel. It may be a bit worn on the edges but overall is well maintained and upgraded. To just walk through the lobby kindles images from the rich history the Hotel has been part of and the great people who have stayed there. In my opinion, the best temporary address in Manila.
Shopping Tip : Take a metered cab to SM Mall of Asia instead of the Closer Robinsons Plaza Mall. Lighter traffic and wider streets make the longer drive actually faster.

Hotel's gracefulness,
a hall music performance, plus location.
Some front desk staffs need improvement...a staff was reading a girl's magazine while I was asking questions to her!!
I have enjoyed staying in this classic hotel.
The location is good for sightseeing in Central Manila area.
Buffet style Breakfast was excellent.

Friendly Staff, comfortable lobby, new pool area
Hotel cabs are too expensive, but meter cabs are easy to get.
I enjoy staying at the Manila Hotel every time chance I have. The staff is professional and very helpful. I get more "Good Mornings" and "Hello Sir" between reception and the elevator than I normally hear all day.
The new pool area is very nice and a comfortable place to relax.
The buffet breakfast is wonderful with a wider selection than normally found. A great way to start the day.
Constant care to maintenance and upgrading keeps the Manila one of the premier hotels n the city. I would stay there just for the history of the place, but it is still the place to be seen with a convienent location on the water front.
Overall, one of the few hotels I actually enjoy staying at.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : For a meter cab, either wait a few minutes at the front door for one to drop someone off or walk the one block to Roxas Blvd. the hotel taxis are not that much more convienent to pay the extra fare.

the bed and the room were incredible!! i thought i paid for a suit but it was jus a regular room.
the guest policy needs to change, i havent seen such a rule in any of the hotels i have stayed in my life, if i am paying i should be able to bring anyone i want inside my room.
i had a great time in the manila hotel the rooms were really big and the beds as well, everything is really clean, the pool is very nice and the lobby looks like a palace, they should change the guest policy cuz if i am paying i should be able to bring anyone i want inside my room, and the internet place should be included in the price like any other hotel.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : there is a golf area right next to the hotel

The building dates from 1912 and carries a classical design, like the Peninsula hotel in Hong Kong. There are numerous restaurants. The President of the Philippines was at a function while I was there. Many functions and dances make it a lively place to stay. The transportation department was very useful and helpful.
I paid for the internet. Though the hotel is on the water, there is very little in the area to see.
Before I made my Manila Hotel reservation I was dismayed with a review, but I went ahead. After three days, I extended my stay to eight days and enjoyed every minute of the live free music, my wood parquet floors, the view of the Bay, a visit to General Mac Arthur’s suite and the very friendly staff. The food is excellent and the lobby is out of a movie set. I’ve been around the world two and a half times. This is a hotel to remember.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The all day boat trip to Corregidor Island (WW2 Battle) leaves 2 miles from the hotel. If you want bars they are 20 minutes by cab. The largest mall in Asia is 15 minutes away.

clean room, courteous personnel/authentic attire of personnel
old building
btreakfast is served cold/no microwave oven at site/only an old convection oven/serves the same food items every day/ swimming pool not ready for use- has to use another hotel's pool and be shuttled to it/ did not see the sunset from my window( 9TH FLOOR FACING THE Manila Bay)
i like the hotel being symbolic of the history of the country/ most of the occupiers i saw were old timers and tourists
near the national park but have to use a taxi to get to the nearest mall- Mall of Asia/PAYS TAXI about 100 pesos which is about more than $2.ONE CAN WALK ACROSS THE PARK TO CATCH THE OVERHEARD LRT TRAIN WHICH U PAY ABOUT 15 CENTS TO CATCH ANOTHER MRT Train if u want to go to another premier city makati with same travel fee.this takes about 1 hour to reach your destination.the trains are crowded which is not unusual.IF u want to go to the center of the city, one can take a taxi (70-100 PESOS), a jeepney or the LRT Train the opposite way or walk about a mile to cross Pasig River using 2-3 bridges to reach your intended destination.

the staff were exellant. made us feel very welcome. we enjoyed the view of the harbour.
the swimming pool was closed and we were not informed. also the noise from the next room!
the hotel was the best thing about our stay in manila.the hotel did take us to another hotel to use there pool but it was not of the same standard. breakfast was good and again all staff very nice. evening meals in the reastraunts dissapionting and the wine was too expensive. we also thought the transfer charge to the airport was too much.
Restaurant Tip : a good seafood reastaurant on the sea jetty is very close by.

My first time in this Manila hotel, and also the last one....Old fashion kind of hotel, non professional staff, hotel cars never available at the right time. Expensive overseas phone calls, and internet connections. My room was having a view on the harbor, only positive fact. Quite far from shopping centers. I would advise this hotel to go for deep renovation and to make it a place of the 21st century.

Entrance and that is the only attraction.
Dirty rooms, very old smelly furniture, Poor front desk staff who really should all leave and find another occupation, all had personality of mushrooms. No gym, no pool due to work being done yet i was sold on being able to use these facilities.
Agoda debit my account for 3 days before i arrived. I stayed 2 days yet i am still chasing 1 day refund. Hotel tells me this is Agoda problem. After many emails and getting no where i am really disappointed as i am a member of Agoda for many years. THEY send me this review form yet don't send me my refund - go figure.
Travel tip : Nothing another than filthy parks and unhappy locals.
