For added convenience, the casino is in the hotel and it made it wasier for us to leave our children in the room with no problems.

  • Restaurant Tip : Their famous Seafood restaurant is just around the corner, which we realied afte we circled around the block for ten minutes.

This hotel is way overdue for a facelift if it wants to retain a four star rating. In my opinion, its a three star at best. That said, most accommodation in the Philippines is overrated and overpriced, with the exception perhaps of hotels in the Ortigas area, however, they are mainly for business travellers and are not handy to any attractions.

  • Hotel Feature Tip : If you book a standard room and are unsatisfied with it request an upgrade for 200 pesos per night. Floors 15 and 16 seem better than the others.

Bottom line, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. We've stayed at Shangri-la in the past, and wished we could have gotten our money back from Manilla Pavillion so we could have moved to another hotel!

  • Travel tip : To get to Robinson Mall should only cost you 60 pesos (that's with tip). Best thing to do is to give cab driver money up front (with tip) and tell them where you're going. That way, they have to get you to your destination or they'll be eating out of their tip money.

I will never go back to this hotel ever again! We booked on Agoda for $100 per night. We arrived on April 18th on PAL and got to the hotel at 5 am and had booked 6 rooms. We had requested for early check in but understood that check in isn’t until 2pm. When we got there they told us to come back around 11 am. We went to eat breakfast and when we called, they said to try again at 1 pm. Finally we decided to just go to the hotel and wait. When we got back, the entire lobby was packed with people trying to check in. We explained to the front desk that we’ve been waiting since 5 am but she continued to say that there were absolutely no rooms available until after 3 pm. I requested to speak with a manager and all of a sudden, 6 rooms were available out of nowhere. After almost a 14-hour flight and 9 hours of waiting for a room we were so relieved to just have a room to relax in. All 6 rooms were on the 17th floor. The floor smelled of smoke but it was supposed to be a non-smoking floor. When we got our room, we were even more disappointed with the appearance. This was not a 4 star hotel – not in US standards. I’ve seen Best Westerns with better rooms. There were cracks in the walls, mildew in the bathroom, and worse, the carpet was disgusting! My 2-year-old son who had asthma got attacks from the dust in the room. We tolerated it the first night but eventually moved to the 12th floor but had to pay $10 more per night. We were told that floors 17 and up had not been renovated – and mind you this is an 80 year old hotel! DO NOT JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER! From the outside, this hotel looks nice. They renovated the entire lobby area so it looks like a modern and new hotel – but once you get to the rooms, it’s horrible. Even the rooms that were “renovated” still looked old. The furniture is still the same but with a new splash of paint and “newer” carpet that was decent but not something I’d walk barefoot on.

I would recommend Manila Pavilion Hotel to other travellers because despite that it has some weakness, still you get the value of your money.

  • Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Very close to tourist attractions especially if you wanted to see the sunset, it's very close to Baywalk where you will have a chance to take a glance at the beautiful sunset. Manila Ocean park is nearby, luneta park, and other tourist attraction. Close to shopping malls as well.

If the rooms are renovated, this can be a good hotel.

  • Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Ride on a pedicab or a horse ride around for sightseeing. It's a great experience.

This hotel desperately need a face lift to their rooms. When you first arrive at the hotel, the lobby and the exterior looks fine. It is when you go upstairs to your room. All I can say is that I have not been at a hotel with such poor condition of bathrooms.

  • Hotel Feature Tip : The casino is not like Macau or Las Vegas. Take those coin containers to the machines before you start to play. staff at the casino are not helpful.
