- Hotel lobby is classy and staff are helpful - Checking out was a non-hassle experience and the location of the hotel was convenient for exploration

- Hotel room carpet was stained - The shower head was rusty - The water at the hotel has a metallic taste

My friends are I stayed at the hotel for 1 night on 17-18 June 2009. The hotel lobby was classy and the staff were friendly and non-pushy. We were carrying our backpacks and the bellboys respected this and did not insist that we place our backpacks on the cart for him to carry (other hotels may insist on this so that bellboys get tips). We were also informed that there are free wireless access at the hotel lobby. However, stepping into our hotel room was a different matter. Our room smelled like paint and the water tasted metallic. The shower head was rusty and the water in the toilet bowl was yellow despite constant flushing. The TV in our room also could not be on. We called housekeeping and a TV technician came to assist. Despite not being able to speak English, the technician was friendly and apologized to us for the inconvenience. The hotel's location was accessible. It was near a casino so there is a vibrant nightlife. The LRT is within walking distance and there is a shopping mall (Robinson's Mall) nearby where we went to change more money and purchase souvenirs such as the infamous Philippines dry mangoes sold at an attractive price at the Mall supermarket. For those who want to chill and people watch, I will recommend the Mrs Field's cafe right beside the hotel. The cafe is not crowded and one of our best times in Manila were spent sipping the chilled fruit shakes while watching life go by in Manila. We also took a cab to another mall, the Mall of Asia located about 20 minutes by cab as recommended by the hotel staff. This huge mall boasted food from various countries (korean, japanese, indonesian, western, chinese etc)and the departmental store has affordable local clothing brands and souvenirs for last minute purchases. We found that the souvenirs such as T-shirts, mugs and model jeepneys are much cheaper as compared to those sold at Ninoy Aquino Airport. The next morning we went for breakfast at the hotel (our hotel stay includes breakfast).

Hotel Feature Tip : free wireless access at the hotel lobby

Location is right at the heart of downtown (not business district). The best part is casino and 24hr fast food nearby.

The room is a little bit old. For the same price, you'll get Holiday Inn which is more comfortable/bigger room (but also ways further into traffic area compare with Manila Pavilion).

I'd say Manila Pavilion Hotel is central to everything. It's located in the shopping district, near airport (150-200php taxi), and full of lively places. I'll come back again.

Shopping Tip : Don't miss going to Chinatown, Tutuban, and 168 shopping bldgs. Not far from hotel; go by taxi. :-)

friendly and accommodating staff

old rooms

My family and I booked a room at the Manila Pavilion through Agoda for 5 nights. The staff especially in housekeeping and those working at the breakfast buffet were warm and friendly. They did everything they could to accommodate us. However, the room we got looked old and decrepit. The bathroom tiles looked moldy and our chairs were delapidated. Overall, I can't complain much as the people were polite and helpful. I would definitely stay there again.

Nice hotel. Friendly staff.

Some old furniture should be replaced or have a make over. Why not replace the carpet by tiles or wooden floor (=better for health of everyone and easier to clean). Bathroom is very old.

Nice quiet and clean hotel. Some upgrading of rooms is necessary. A part of this hotel is already upgraded, but the whole hotel needs this upgrade. Price is quite high for what you only get as a deluxe room. Or the management should give the upgraded room. Restaurant offers enough choices in food for the breakfast.

Hotel Feature Tip : A good place to stay not too far from the airport. Shopping center nearby. Quiet, clean with a friendly staff. Restaurants near the hotel.

very convenience

very old furnitures & bathroom

It is a very very old hotel, bad facilities, old furnitures. The breakfast is not too bad but all the food is very dry, hard and cool. But the hotel's location is very convenience and very close the SM shopping mall ( around five minutes by Taxi )

Travel tip : Just 850P for the Spa at opposite the hotel

My family appreciated the professional behavior of the staff and the conditions of the hotel. Nicely decorated rooms, spacious, clean, well-equipped, and near to many sites.

Too many Adult channels on TV; not good for family. The hotel-airport taxi was more expensive than other hotels.

We will definitely stay at the Pavilion Hotel again. We recommend this hotel because of it's proximity to Shopping Malls, US Embassy, Roxas Blvd and Manila Bay, Star City. It seems to have everything families from other countries like, including exercising room and swimming pool.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Manila Bay, Star City, New Aquamarine center, Shopping, Rizal Park....it seems to have everything for families.

Location, Customer Service, Pool

Wireless Internet, Smoking allowed on non-smoking floors

I have been staying at the Pavilion since 2000 when it was the Holiday Inn or Manila. It is as reliable as ever. The location on the corner of UN Avenue and Maria Orosa puts it 3 blocks from Robinson's Mall, 5 blocks from the US Embassy, 2 blocks from Luneta Park and the Rizal Memorial, and next door to the Court of Appeals and Doctor's Hospital. The Customer Service is outstanding, if something needs attention, it is taken care of right away, even if it means upgrading your room at no extra cost. Be careful when booking as the Standard and Superior rooms are the rooms still needing to be remodeled. The Deluxe rooms have already been remodeled and have newer carpet and linens. There is supposed to be wireless internet on all floors, but I was unable to get it and had to go to the lobby and sit in the Patisserie or Boulivar to use free wireless internet. There are ashtrays on the non-smoking floors near the elevators so people smoke in the hallways which is not supposed to happen.

Restaurant Tip : Many Fast Food Restaurants are across the street. Jolibee, Greenwich are to the North, McDonald's Pancake House are directly across from the entrance. Chow King, Max's, Delifrance, and Shakey's are diagonally across the street. Many local mom & pop's as well as many additional restaurants in Robinson's mall within 3 blocks walking distance.

Too good

The swimming pool is a mess.

The hotel is very conveniently located near the Robinson Mall, an in-house Casino, Mc Donalds and various other eateries and shopping areas - of course including the Ocean view within a 5 minute walk on UN Avenue. The hotel staff is friendly, amazing breakfast, helpful travel desk, etc etc etc.

Shopping Tip : The Robinsons Mall a 5 minute walk from the hotel is a good place to get some good bargains on clothes, shoes, etc.

friendly, helpful staff in general.

Very poor standards of hotel presentation outside the lobby area.

The posative aspects of the stay were of a well run Restaurant with a good standard of food and service. However our stay was dissapointing from the general standard of decorations, cleanliness of rooms and corridors, carpets, decoration, fixtures and fittings in general. The general appearence we gained was of a Hotel in urgent need of investment to bring it to the standards it claims to represent.

I like the location - near Rizal Park and great walking area.

Not convenient for my business associates who need to meet with me because of traffic. A bit expensive for my budget.

So far this is my favorite hotel in Manila. I like the buffet breakfast and there are plenty of dinner alternatives in and around the hotel. Seems to be a safe location.

the room given to me and my mom doesn't match the reception area. When you enter the hotel it looks fabulous but the room was awful. The toilet water faucet was leaking and you can see the floor carpet was just recently flooded. It really needs a full renovation.

Good service. the rooms are nice, as i am used of Waterfront hotels. I've stayed in many hotels in manila and this is one of the best in this price class. rooms are clean and service is helpful. food is not too expensive in the restaurants inside the hotel.

Taxi's should be controlled by the hotel staff, now many foreigners are ripped of by the taxi drivers. the hotel must arrange meter taxi's and warn the people about taxi drivers in manila.

The hotel is in a very nice location its about 20 min away from the airport (realistic time with the heavy traffic in manila). its located on walking distance of Robinson shopping mall, there are various semi fast food restaurants in the area and a few coffee shops. its not to difficult to go somewhere else in manila since the hotel is located near the coast road. food in the hotel is nice and fair priced. it would defend my choice again when i need to stay in manila. Waterfront hotels are highly recommended by me.

Shopping Tip : robinson mall is on a walking distance.

The place had bedbugs and they ate me alive in 2 rooms - nothing more to be said.
