Impression gone with the wind....
7.7
This hotel's renovation is long overdue. When I was a kid this hotel was very great (It was Hilton then)! Now, the story is totally different. Two of the elevators didn't work. We have to contend with other occupants for the use of the remaining functioning elevators.
But the food is still superb! This hotel is near the historical Manila - Intramuros. The national park and the bay are just a few meters away. One can jog in the early morning with the locals doing the same.
Nightlife Tip:
This is Ermita, the red light district as the locals say. Bars are just around, etc.

Lovely from the lobby but the room was bad.
It was close to the airport.
3.3
The hotel look good from the outside and the lobby but the rooms were 2 stars at best. It certainly was not 4 star or above.
Shopping Tip:
Robinson mall and the US Embassy was close by. But the room was so horrible, it was not worth it.

Casino Trip
Casino is located on 1st floor.
6.7
It's very convenient, casino is on 1st floor, McDonalds and ChowKing Restaurant are nearby. Walk to Robinsons Mall only takes 5 min. However, the air con is noisy. Room is large but old.
Shopping Tip:
Walk to Robinsons Mall only takes 5 min.

Not quite what I expected
Lobby & restaurant were fair

I chose the hotel because it was in close proximity to my meeting but the rooms were probably a 3 on a scale

The front desk needs more people working...Period. Took 20 minutes to check in and 30 minutes to check out. the rooms are very old and smelly along with the whole hotel. The one reason i picked the Pavilion was the pool, the room service is OK, but the Angus items are very expensive and I can guarentee are not Angus products.

This hotel is not good
Cannot think of anything that was worth praising about this hotel
3
This hotel needs to be refurbished and kept clean.
The room was filthy...literally you stick to the carpet!!!
The sealant around the bath had turned green and the mould on the bathroom ceiling had been there a long time.
Outside be prepared to be pestered by beggars who get aggressive if you don't have some cash to give them. (especially the kids on glue)
I will not stay at this hotel again.
Travel tip:
Avoid this hotel until they clean it....

Manila Pavilion Hotel
Employees were friendly and did their best to improve a lousy hotel experience
4.3
when we arrived, we were given an absolutely filthy room. the carpet was covered with some sort of brown dirt, like mud or something worse. the bed was as hard as a piece of plywood, with smelly bedsheets and dirty, worn out pillows. the bathroom was similarly filthy-- not simply old and worn out, but dirty and unsanitary.
we complained to the front desk, and the employees tried to make things better by moving us to a "deluxe" room. however, the new room was just as filthy, except having a newer carpet. it still smelled bad and the bathroom was still dirty, and the bed was still like a piece of plywood.
to rate this hotel as "four stars" is grossly misleading.

I was there years ago when the present management just took over to run the hotel, that was really nice at that moment yet everything was gone.
The door of the toilet was broken and the window was too dirty to see through, I don't know how many years they haven't been cleaned. The carpet was too old to step on.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Try the casino at the ground floor to see how good luck you are.
