In the last 3 years, I have stayed at the Nichols Airport Hotel about 8 times and that number is only going to grow. Yes, being close to the airport the area tends to be a little industrial and not a place most tourists would spend the night walking around. Although it is not in a touristy area, transportation is easy to come by. From the “car for hire” which are always available at the lobby, to the frequent taxis that are constantly in the neighborhood, to the train station which is only a short walk away, getting around has never been a problem for us.
The restaurant hasn’t impressed me, but just outside the hotel you can find a few types of Fast Food and many wonderful Pilipino eateries. The Pilipino food would not be what we classified as “Fine Dinning” but I think it’s tasty and quite affordable. And, isn’t experiencing the places we go one of the reason we travel? After all if you were looking for Fine French food you would you be going to Manila?
One thing about the “car for hire” the drivers I have had are friendly and knowledgeable of the area. You can make a contract for anything from a one way trip, to an all day excursion. Just get a hard price before you leave. But this advice would go for any of the private car operators in the country.
We have enjoyed the roof top lounge. The bartender is knowledgeable, personable and friendly but sometimes he is not too attentive. It appears that he has to make room service deliveries which leave the lounge customers to wait for his to return.
Shopping Tip:
One of the best things about staying here is the evening market! Within about ½ kilometer from the hotel there are sellers are open for business. You can find anything from linens to shoes, to luggage, to clothing. Remember to barter, it’s all part of the fun, never pay the asking price (unless you like overpaying).

I think Nichols airport hotel is convinient to stay near hotel for just sleep when you arrive late night and depart to another place next day via airport. It's very convient to go airport by hotel's driving service. The room facilite is not bad and no problems to have sleep. However it's not clean and calm near the hotel.

The Nichols Hotel is conveniently located close to the airport and reasonably priced. Nothing fancy, rooms simple and functional, and a friendly helpful staff. Might choose a different hotel if staying multiple nights or if with the family, but was fine for a short layover in Manila.

this is a very convenient location for making transfers to other parts of the Philippines as it is very near the airport. the staff are pleasant and friendly. the neigbhorhood is not a place to walk or explore, but it is a short cab fare away from mall of asia, and that is a terrific area in which to spend time.
we will definately use and recommend this hotel again.

Best hotel I have stayed in Manila so far

Cannot really comment on the hotel's location for a stay in Manila because I am always on the way to somewhere else in the RP. The beds sleep FINE and the showers are roomy. Beds are excellent.
Staff was always excellent and the view from the rooftop restaurant over the bay is worth seeing. Food ain't bad, either.
I went walkabout looking for some asthma medicine. Lots of little hole in the wall bars and clubs within ten minutes walk. Not a big thing for me, but some will find it a definite plus.
I have stayed in some really bad, raunchy hotels in Manila. This is not one of them. It is my current plan at this place to be the one I hit whenever I go through Manila and I would not be ashamed to have my sweetie there with me, either.
