3 Best features:
1. The cleaning staff;
2. Location is close to public transportation; and
3. Hotel is located within walking distance to Mall for shopping and dining.
3 Not-so-good features:
1. Slow and sporadic Wi-Fi internet connection;
2. Internet access in room is expensive; and
3. It's expensive to extend your stay at the front desk; you must go online and use Agoda.
My overall stay at the Pearl Manila Hotel was fine. I was able to relax and read the paper undisturbed by the pool. The staff was excellent and will give you a professional greeting when you enter the main entrance and they have staff that rides the elevator with you to each floor. The cleaning staff was excellent. Each day I knew my room would be thoroughly cleaned and my toiletries were replenished each day. Even during the times I put up my "Do Not Disturb" sign, the staff politely waited until later during the afternoon to clean my room. The location of the hotel is close to smaller neighborhood stores and you can walk to Robinson's Mall which is one of the bigger malls in the area. Although the cabs are inexpensive, about 2 blocks away from the hotel, you can opt to take public transportation (trains and buses). There is also a 24 hour McDonalds 2 blocks away as well. Although my initial reservation was for 4 days, I ended up extended it another 3 days.

I really like the pool which is up above the street level.
The staff here is nice and the hotel is very pleasant. If you get a bay view room, the window view is pretty awesome. The hotel is also convenient to the LRT (light rail) and since I use a lot of public transportation to avoid the taxis, it is good for me. You have to be brave and get out there and experience Manila. Nice buffet in the morning including omelets to order, ha.
Nightlife Tip : PAGCOR casino right around the corner down UN BLVD in the Pavilion. Try roulette :-)

Nice hotel, clean, quiet.
Directions to lobby should be more prominent.
The hotel facility is good. Hotel lobby have fast food resturant (Macdonald, Jolli Bee). Bed sheets were clean. Shampoo, bath lotion, toothbrush were changed daily. Hotel gym is good. Value for $$$. Near LRT train station.

Next to the United Nations LRT, conveniently located. Rooms are tidy and clean.
If travelling with a budget, this is one hotel to consider given the proxity to the United Nations LRT. The rides are cheap and a great way to travel cheap in Manila. The staff are friendly with prompt service. Overall, I'm satisfied with my stay at the hotel.

The hotel has a good location for some of Manila's historical places such as a walk to Fort Sasntiago, Intramurus, and Luneta Park; a short taxi ride to Roxas Blvd. and Manila Harbor.
The staff was very friendly and efficient.
The room itself was rather Spartan. Our showerhead was broken so that it would not hang on the wall. The hallway was dingy making the hotel look older than it was. I thought is was constructed in the 1970's but it actually was constructed in 2000.
This is a nice place to stay if you intend to do alot of sightseeing and not too concerned about hotel ambience. Taxis are readily available outside the hotel and very cheap by US standards. Just behind the hotel on Taft Blvd. is a statin for the local electric trains that can take you just about anywhere in Manila connecting again with taxis at the various stops.
The breakfast buffet was ok serving both local and Western food. There is a nice Happy Hour at the Oyster Bar for a fine capping off of the day.
Again though, the hotel should upgrade its carpeting and repaing the walls in brighter colors.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Negotiate an hourly fare with a taxi driver and have him drive you on a tour of the city.

Responsible security, friendly people and great location.
No internet and too less lamps in the room.
It's convenient to go many places. It is convenient to use LRT system because the station is very close to the hotel. It's a simple and complete environment with friendly people, but I can not use internet in my room and only can use it on check-in floor. Too less lamps in the room, so it's dark at night and not convenient to read books. All at all, if you stay for a short time in Manila, it's still a nice place to live.
Shopping Tip : The SM City Manila shopping mall is near this hotel. You can walk there for 20~30 minutes.

The hotel is very near the LRT station - United Nations Station. Furthermore, it is also near Manila Bay. The room is also quite spacious and clean. It is quite a decent one for the price you are paying.
Its breakfast lacks variety and is not that appealing. That is the main thing. Besides, the hotel is quite old and it seriously needs upgrading.
Pearl Manila Hotel is generally quite good for its location and comfort. If you are thinking of having a trip to Old Manila to visit various historic sites, this hotel is very near these places. It is also value for money as it is very near Manila Bay and many bars - all the happening places - at a much lower price as compared to other hotels nearby. They are all within walking distance. However, it can be quite some distance away from Makati where the shopping lies. Still you can reach there by taking the LRT and then the MRT. The journey to reach Makati should not take more than 30 minutes from this hotel. Of course, if you take a taxi, it takes around 15 minutes.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Old Manila

Hotel is not 4 star. Hotel is not in a good area. Hotel is hopeless for Taxi's
I have stayed at a lot of hotels in Manila and although this is not the worst, it is certainly the worst in case of "not as advertised". It has the worst Taxi access of any hotel in Manila, staff are poor, location is lousy. Do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else instead.
Hotel Feature Tip : Try any other hotel

Near the US embassy. Nice big King size bed and room. There was a free breakfast buffet. Internet cafe across the street as well as 2 24 hours mini stores. There are ATM's nearby. Fast food restaurants nearby.
Internet connection was only up for 2 out of the 6 days I was there. The hallways could have been cleaner. There were a lot of stains on the carpet in the hallways as well as in the room. The furniture in the hallway were in bad shape. Cab drivers in the area try to take advantage if you are not Filipino. Eating in the Hotel is very expensive especially room service.
I really did not like the hotel other than the free breakfast. I wish I had stayed somewhere else for the money I paid.

Good location, nice employees. Clean.
We wanted a king size bed and they couldn't provide one. The gym was murky.
Other than 2 single beds to make a king size bed, it was a good experience. Breakfast was good and the staff was helpful. It was a bit of a distance from the airport but close to all of the other attractions we wanted to see. For the price it was a good deal.

is in a good location, close to mall and the harbor
the exchange rate at the hotel was lower than other places
the hotel is in a very good location in the city, i found that the hotel is very close to many things there...many are within walking distance.
the train is close by, the mall is close by that you could even walk to it. they have a very good buffet breakfast every morning, the staff is very friendly, the rooms are clean, many fast food places near by, some are open all night, even a corner market there is open all night.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : is close to the harbor, easy to pick up the ferry
