Nice little hotel

my husband and i stayed at the clipper in manila en route to our trip to boracay. we chose the hotel because it was a good price and not too far from the airport. the art-deco-style room was no frills, but bright, clean and well air-conditioned. since our stay was short, we didn't explore the area too much, but there is at least one tasty restaurant within a 5-minute walk, and the hotel itself offered a nice breakfast at a good price. also a very nice park within about a 10-15 minute walk, near shangri-la hotel, starbucks, etc. i would stay again.
Restaurant Tip:
The restaurant at the end of the block serves delicious black-pepper chicken!

Quaint Art Deco Hotel

the clipper hotel is definitely a diamond in the rough of makati. makati area is the center of nightlife in manila but at times can feel dirty- the exact opposite of the clipper hotel. of all the hotels we stayed at the philippines, i would say that the clipper is the best deal we got. the hotel itself is chic, and being an interior designer myself, i really appreciated how they managed to pull off such a nice atmosphere without an simple and beautiful feel without charging ridiculous prices. the staff was very friendly and the rooms were very clean. i'm going to recommend this hotel to all my friends who are looking for affordable accommodations in manila. it's a steal!
Shopping Tip:
Nearby Powerplant Mall is an easy 10 minute walk from the Clipper hotel. If you are there on a Saturday morning, be sure to check out the Salcedo Community market. It was the highlight of Manila for us.

Decent hotel in excellent loaction for nightlife

this hotel in clean and rooms are comfortable. it is not luxury but it has everything you need: aircon, pay tv, wifi internet in the room, big bathroom. the good thing of the hotel is its location: right at the beginning of burgos. so, if you like bars, nightlife, massages, and party, this hotel is pefrectly located. however, if your traveling with family or you're looking for relax, this is not the hotel for you.

the clipper is good value for money - it is clean, reasonably modern, has basic but decent room facilities and is conveniently located for makati.
the drawbacks of the place are that it is located near a busy area and a busy streey which means it is pretty noisy.
also, it is not the sort of place you can stay put at - eating and drinking needs to be done at local hostelries. but that's what you get for night.
i have stayed at the clipper a couple of times and found it perfectly reasonable.
