Lovely resort with great cottages and atmosphere
Features, service, cottages
10
You must absolutely go here should for diving, snorkelling or should you need a place to stay before going with the ferry to El Nido. The features of the resort are truly idyllic and there is a lovely restaurant/bar by the water where great food is served. We lived in a cottage with great view over the bay and surrounded with lovely nature. We took an island hopping tour that was very well organised and very priceworthy.

relaxt hotel and nice staff
quiet, secluded, good dive trips and island hopping
8
This hotel is on an island about a 15min boat ride away from coron town. This was actually quite nice because coron could be a bit hectic and noisy. They had great dive trips and island hopping trips and the staff were willing to help out with everything and they were super nice and professional. the atmosphere in the hotel was really chill. The food was ok, especially the salads and thai curry's were nice.

Best Hotel in Palawan
Location is stunning, staff couldnt be better, fabulous restaurant, super cute resident dogs!
10
I wasn't sure whether to book here since there were a couple of subpar reviews - thank god we did. My boyfriend and I started our month long vacation and Discovery and it remained our favorite place. The location can't be beat - downtown coron is too busy and kind of dumpy, so with Discovery Bay being a super cheap 10 minute boat ride away, you got convenience and beauty in one.
The restaurant and bar were great. We highly recommend the curry and the veggie spring rolls.
Staff was unbelievably helpful in booking tours and organizing boat trips and airport pick ups.
The sweet resident dogs really added to the laid back friendly ambience.
The rooms were medium size, extremely clean, and most importantly bug proof.
After talking to several other travelers I am convinced Discovery Island is the only place to stay in Coron.
Restaurant Tip:
Even though the place looks cheesy, have a mango margarita, seaweed salad, and calamari at Serenettis (can't miss the bar with the mermaids). It was one of the best meals and sunsets of the trip.

Paying money for everything
4
The resort is not in the same island where the city town is located. You have to pay every boat yo take from/to Resort, Yo ualso have to call them to pick you up in the Pier (they don't always pick the phone up).
shower hasn't warm water. We shared the room with a gekko that was singing the whole night.
Breakfast are not drinks cheap.

first of all (and the best), the hotel is very quiet. rooms were ok (to me, the cottage was ok too). we slept during the supertyphoon, so building quality is ok too. my review can (and probably will) be affected by the supertyphoon, which ruined our vacation plans: we were unable to go to the sea tour. just a few things to mention, they can be both pros or cons.
prices. the room rates are low, but the food is more expensive than every other place in philippines. if you are not going to support the hotel owners, you may eat cheaper in the town. also we had to pay for the drinking water. well, i was surprised since it's considered a must have in my country, not a privilege you need to pay for.
wi-fi. it's good (well, it's good for the small island in the middle of the sea) in the restaurant, but we never get it working in the cottage and in the stone building room. fortunately, you may charge your laptop in the restaurant.
gekkos. there are gekkos in the room. we had two extra guests :). i'm ok with them (yeah, i know i'm the most dangerous spices), but my wife is not. we had to move to the stone building. initially we were offered to move there for free (because of the supertyphoon, but we decided to stay in the cottage since we were not frightened), but when it was our initiative, we had to pay the difference between the a/c room and the cottage.
staff. they were helpful and hospitable. and honest - during our transfer from the cottage to the stone building, we left the camera in the cottage. they brought the camera to us. also it was nice to have a small chats with some guy (probably owner of this place). also, his english was good (i had troubles when communicating with most of philippines people, but it was easy to communicate with guys from us/europe/uk).
beach. it's not used for swimming, but there are some nearby beaches you can relax during the sea tours.
you need to ask for the replacement towels or cleaning the room. we didn't needed it, actually.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Quite a common tip: go see the mountain and then take a trike to the hot springs

Quite location hide in a bay
4.7
Lovely green surroundings hidden in a bay, hotel features are traditional, facilities are ok, but lacking services as it run on a family style. Very basic and easy going though.

we were very welcome. the staff were very nice and they speek well english. they can arrange many kind of tours - island hopping, beach, dive...
the resort doesn't have beach and it is not good for snorkling.
the rooms were ok. we choose a a/c and fan room. there aren't hot water, but it isn't a problem because all day it's hot and at the end of the day, it is a refresh bath.
the food is good.
the resort is a 10min boat ride from coron city.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
We did a Island hopping tour and for lunch we choose a fish bought by the staff resort in the morning. The boat man cooked the fish and we heat on a very pleasant beach. The tour started at 7 pecados. Very nice for snorkling but with many people. There was a strong current on the water. Then we went to the Blue Lagoon (just for swim and see the views), Beach lunch (good for relax and snorkling) and Twin Lagoon (just for the curiosity and for swim; many people). All these places have a entrance fee (it's a little hard to understand all these fees).
In last day, we went to the city to walk. We rent a boat and went to a beach to stay the day. You can go to Turism Office at Coron City to see and advice for sight sees and beach. The boat can be rent on the pier and you must negotiate the final price (much lower than the initial).

Lovely scenery, clean room big enough for 4, friendly & accommodating staff and owners, clear sea, affordable price. Situated in an island 10 min away from Coron town via boat but worth it. Downside: scarcity of good food including the restos & hotels in Coron. Overall, value for your money with peace & quiet we all want in a vacation.

Nice relaxing place to stay, bit out of the way!
The staff, the outdoor sitting area, and the comfy bed!
7.3
The Discovery Island Resort is a really nice place to stay in Coron if you want to be out of town! You have to take a boat from the main town to the island that the hotel is on, although its a pretty short and pleasant journey. The staff are really nice, friendly and attentive. The food in the restaurant wasn't bad but nothing special. Our room was nice and spacious, with a big comfortable bed!

Relax and cosy resort in a small island
Relaxing resort at a small island 10mins by boat from Coron town
6.7
I stayed at Discovery Island Resort for 4 nights. The main reason for staying there is for wreck diving in Coron. The hotel is located in a small island called Discovery Island about 10mins boat ride from Coron town. The owner and his staff are friendly. I took the fun dive with a Swiss divemaster who operates a dive shop a the same resort. The divemaster is attentive and professional and knows very well the wrecks in Coron.
