nice location, excellent greek restaurant nearby
hotel is still redeveloping, but the rooms are not maintained well. ok, we are here in phils. so some deficiencies are to be expected. rms are too lousy. even my phil. wife said that!
location is very nice. the greek restaurant nearby (MANOS Taverna) serves excellent original greek dishes. a welcome alternative to the filipino food. the swimming pool is too small and too much chemicals. we also tried the jacuzzi and sauna, what a mistake!
the breakfast which was included in our room rate was good, nice view over the lake and the volcano.
Restaurant Tip : Manos Taverna

View.
Restaurant.
Multi-level landscape.
Swimming pool.
Staff and front desk.
Spa/jacuzzi was green and dirty. Lots of construction due to update/upgrading the resort. better cable/satellite reception.
Staff was friendly. Front desk was cheerful, helpful and informative upon our arrival.
View of the Lake Taal is awesome from our hut. Huts was a great experience. Beautiful bamboo architechture.
Pool was clean and fun. Jacuzzi/spa needed to be clean due to green algae growing inside.
Great interior designing of the restaurant. Placement of the food was great. Making typical Filipino breakfast look and taste great. I had to take pictures of each dish that was presented.
Beautiful landscaping and garden.

Ants - out of fairness, ants are part of nature and they didn't bother us. Just be prepared and don't leave open food around or they'll beat you to it.
We read some previous reviews about Estancia Resort before booking our reservation - most were good. One mentioned the noise from construction going on. Well, the construction is still going on, but not an inconvenience at all. It was not noisy; if it's for improvements, then great! Actually, we booked a superior room through Agoda and when we checked in, we were given a bigger, better (Executive) room at no additional charge. I'm guessing due to the on-going construction, the superior rooms were being renovated. WiFi internet reception was good even down the hill in our room away from the WiFi central area. They gave us free internet service the first day - reasonable price thereafter. Fresh vegetables, especially the crisp leaf lettuce native to cool weather climates. Staff was professional and polite. Peaceful and quiet overlooking the beautiful view of Taal Volcano and lake. Plenty of local fruit/vegetable markets. Hotel is fairly far away via trike and bus to local malls (SM & Robinsons), but we're used to local transportation. Great therapeutic messages available for about $10 per hour - so good, the entire family got one. Pool was adequate, especially for our 10-year old daughter who "lives" in water.
Hotel Feature Tip : Check out the room service therapeutic messages and/or foot messages - excellent and fairly priced, I was looking for a chiropractor, but don't need one now. My back pains have at least temporarily subsided.

staff willing to relocate us to a different room, good breakfast, good views
rooms are musty and moldy, there was nothing "executive" about the executive suite, bed bugs!, restaurant musty and moldy, need a complete makeover!
This hotel in my opinion has to be the worst hotel in the Philippines. It is very old and hence the rooms are very moldy and musty. The beds are damp and they have bed bugs! We could not sleep at all and fortunately was able to be moved from our "executive" suite (the name does not suit it at all) to a smaller modern room. I would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Newly renovated airconditioned rooms, very friendly staff
nipa hut room needs renovation.
Estancia Resort in Tagaytay is one of the landmarks in Tagaytay. Some rooms area already renovated except for the Nipa Hut Room which is overlooking Taal Lake. Food is great and very reasonable.
Very hard to walk around outside is you don't have any private cars. Entrance to the hotel is very small.
Travel tip : 10 minute car ride to the restaurants in Tagaytay and around 15 minutes to Taal Vista Lodge.

Good service
Good restaurant
Nice Nipa huts
Venture outside the hotel requires at least a trike ride - not really a weakness but may be a challenge to big folks cos the sidecar attached to a trike is very low down and box shape.
Our stay at the hotel was comfortable and in-house service was outstanding. Major reconstruction work of the front building didn't bother our stay at one of the nipa nuts which offered great view of the Taal lake in a primary forest enviroment.
Food was great too.
Finally the ring shape swimming pool offered us all a relaxing dip during one hot and humid afternoon.
Restaurant Tip : RSM restaurant couple km down from the Rotenda serves good seafood in a spacious cozy environment.

Ideal location accessible to downtown Tagaytay and holiday Tagaytay; relaxing layout of rolling hills and verdant gardens; magnificent view of the lake; large rooms; efficient and polite service.
*Construction going on, but we know this is temporary and indeed admire the resort's effort of ever improving its premises and services.
*We arrived late at night, and used to driving ourselves around in Thailand and parking our cars, we are therefore fit and happy to take the long and pleasant walk to our rooms. However, my Filipino siblings who walked with us, spoiled with their drivers and several helpers, thought the walk from the parking lot was too long. The clerks told us there was a buggy service in the daytime--so how about guests who arrive at night?--and we expect many visitors would arrive late with the drive from Manila.
We know of Estancia Resort's glorious past, and finding the reasonable rates from Agoda, we did not hesitate to take the rooms. The magnificent view of the lake and the rolling hills and verdant gardens still speak of Estancia's noble past, and the construction going on speaks of its effort to upgrade its standards as there is now a lot of competition from international hotel chains and other exclusive hotels. Our rooms were very large and comfortable and the place has something for everyone--entertainment and activities for the young and privacy and rest for the old, etc. The staff are very efficient and speak English well. Though the construction going on detracts from its present beauty, the effort does promise a return to its past reputation in the future.
Restaurant Tip : The restaurants provide delicious Filipino food and the service could make you feel like royalty. However, even though the food is good, as in the included breakfast, you might be disappointed if you expect the same variety offered in the breakfast buffets for the same price range in Thailand, Malaysia and some other Southeast Asian countries where agriculture is lush and flourishing so food is cheaper and more abundant.

Sense of seclusion... very relaxing. Nice pool, jacuzzi and sauna area.
Current major construction activity (but not a problem in the area of the Nipa huts).
The Estancia Resort provided a very welcome and relaxing environment in which to enjoy some quite time amidst a peaceful setting with great views of Taal Lake and Island. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The food at the restaurant was quite good, and the pool area provided a nice setting to relax after a day of touring.
Hotel Feature Tip : The Nipa Huts are quite reasonable and are fine even without aircon... but you might also enjoy the Executive rooms near the Nipa Huts with aircon for a few more dollars which have more romantic privacy... hhhmmm.

our balcony had a view of taal.
food was pretty good (free bfast).
nice staff.
pool was ok except some leaves.
our room was very far. we had a long way to walk.
since we stayed in a nipahut, we were a bit conscious that we could be heard thru the walls.
ongoing renovation while we were there, many workers.
Our stay there was for my bday. For the low price we got, it was a good experience. Although our room was very far since it was a nipahut and we had to walk thru a long bridgeway that was a bit creepy and dark and tiring, the area was private since we were away from the renovation. the staff were also very friendly and we even rode on the 'golfcart' when we checked out to go the recep area.

Location / Quietness of the location of the rooms; jacuzzi (pls maintain the cleanliness)
NIpa Huts needs improvement esp Nipa HUt number # 32.
We were given two (2) executive rooms with double beds. The NIpa Hut assigned needs renovation. My Antie Lita a balikbayan like the place its quiet and she even mentioned that she can recommend the hotel to her friends who will be on vacation . She's from Canada. Suggestion like inother hotel can you provide complimentaty two (2) bottled drinking water. The breakfast is Ok. but how about a buffet breakfast can be packeaged with the accommodation. The on going renovation will also improve the place. The staff are also OK.
Restaurant Tip : Dinner at Leslie Restaurant is ok.

Nipa huts are quiet and have an excellent view of Lake Taal.
This hotel was looking a little tired on my previous visit but major renovations are now under way. The nipa huts are located away from the main building so the construction is not a problem. Staff are all very friendly and helpful. Excellent value in an otherwise overpriced tourist town.
Restaurant Tip : Visit Mano's Greek Taverna located between the hotel and the rotunda - the best I have tasted outside of Greece.
