No complaints, but...

We stayed for a night here, simply to swim and spend some quality time with the family. It was a Monday, so save for one or two other groups, we practically had the hotel to ourselves.
Everything you'd expect from a hotel was there. The place was clean, the room keys worked, the bar and bathroom were stocked, the aircon was cool, the pool was clean, the tapa breakfast was first class, and the wifi signal was flawless.
So what was wrong? Well, in a nutshell, the place was unremarkable. I guess as a traveler, I'd like to get a greater sense of the culture of a locale, or a unique sense of style, or the personality of the hotel owner even. My wife and I saw nothing to get excited by - no ambience, no view of the lake, no quirky bit of decor, no pizzazz. The picture frames on the wall of our room are telling: one was a stock photo of the chocolate hills, and the other was a nondescript photo of the side of a mountain. The kids' playground was straight out of a catalog. The pool was just that - a pool.
Would I recommend this hotel? Why not? Certainly if you're there to get some work done. But not quite to get recharged.

At the end of the day the cost just for the night stay with breakfast was 6740PHP. This is the price of many 5 star hotels. A better value for this hotel would fall in the 4000 to 5000php price. I have stayed at this hotel many times over the past five years and always used to pay about 4100php. They have done some improvements and made some investments to attract more group events like outings and weddings. This is most likely why the price hike.

It was just okay. The bathrooms look particularly old though, and maybe the rooms weren't soundproof-ed enough because I could hear when neighbours moved their furniture or when someone would blow his nose. Also, there was really loud singing going on outside until close to midnight.
