Tagaytay Country Hotel is a 5-min walk to Tagaytay Rotonda which houses a few fastfood chains if you don't want the food in the hotel and some convenient stores. Also a 5-7 min walk to jeep terminal which can bring you to almost any place in Tagaytay. Hotel's location is perfect as it is near everywhere. Buses from and to Manila were passing by Olivarez Plaza so it won't be a problem if you're travelling by public transportation. Frontdesk personnel were friendly, nice, and gloomy. Standard room is clean and spacious. Calls to the frontdesk were always attended to. Also gave us ways on how to get to Tagaytay's most visited places through public transportation. Has a variety of cable channels to choose from. Bed was very comfortable. Hot shower is working. Hotel has a number of food to choose from the menu but quite expensive though. Very nice and cleam hallway. Tagaytay Country Hotel is not bad for a 2-star hotel accomodation, definitely worth your money.

Hotel was located in the innermost par of Olivarez Plaza. If you don't have a private vehicle you have to walk yourself to the hotel from the highway for like 3-5 mins. Not really a problem actually but since it was raining when we went there, it was really much of a hassle walking to and from the hotel as we don't have a car with us. Lobby was very ordinary and small, not really relaxing. Hotel is only a 2-storey bldg so they don't have elevators for guests. No motif for standard room, very ordinary. Shower was working but water coming out of it very limited. There were ants on the sink I don't know where those came from but not a disturbance at all as they can be instantly killed with the hot moisture from the hot shower. Food was not good and really expensive. Me and my friend ordered Fetuccini Marinara and Spaghetti Carbonara. Serving per plate is reasonable but the taste is bad, not even close to a real Marinara and Carbonara you can have from restaurants in Manila and it took them like 10-15 mins to serve it. When we called the frontdesk to ask for any more places to visit in Tagaytay, the guy we talked to was very sarcastic. when we asked for our room to be cleaned while we have our breakfast outside the hotel, the personnel who cleaned our room just left the empty plates on the floor outside our room and it took them like half of the day before they get it. I don't know if they just forgot that they left it there outside but really not a nice thing to see if you're on the hallway. There were water drippings on the wall near the window but not a disturbance at all. Outside pool was quite a few walks from the hotel building itself which is really not a good thing.

Overall, Tagaytay County Hotel gave us a good value for our money. We stayed there for almost 3 days and 2 nights and hotel staff were very nice and accomodating. Hotel's location is great - near jeepney terminal, fastfood restaurants, and other stores. Also in the center of Tagaytay which gives you easy access to the most visited places including the market. Food in the hotel was not good though, better have your meals outside which is a few walks from the hotel. Having a private vehicle with you is very convenient and recommended. It was raining during our stay in Tagaytay so it gave us quite a hard time outside. Fruits at the market were selling at a very reasonable price than in Manila of course. We weren't able to see the Taal Volcano as it was very foggy.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : If you're lucky enough to go to Tagaytay when it's not foggy and rainy, the best location to view the Taal Volcano is at Taal Vista Hotel. They offer the best view of the volcano. If you're not a guest in the hotel and just would like to see the attraction, an entrance fee of P50 is paid at the guardhouse. Quite reasonable though as the ambience of Taal Vista's viewing deck is superb. Would not recommend going to Picnic Grove. The place has an awful smell due to the horses' droppings. The entrance fee was also P50 but view of the volcano is very far. I suggest that you have your meals outside the hotel. Fastfood chains such as Jollibee, McDonald's, Chowking, Mang Inasal, etc were a few steps away. Hotel only charges corkage fees for bulk food orders so you can bring your food into your room. Convenient stores are also located outside like 7/11 and mercury Drug so I suggest you buy your drinks from those stores and just bring it to the hotel. Magallanes also offers other restuarants which are famous in Tagaytay like Leslie's restaurant which is known for its Bulalo. Food is quite expensive though but taste is perfect.

I can't think of any

Unfriendly staff, smelly rooms, overpriced

Anywhere else in the Philippines they couldn't get more than this room. But since it is Tagaytay they gouge you. Very unfriendly. They wanted to see my passport, and after he gets it in his hands he informs me he is keeping it until I check out. I said no way and had to take it back. I would recommend using one of the other overpriced hotels in Tagaytay, at least maybe they will show the typical Filipino hospitality and not scowl like they do here.

Friendly staff

not well maintained. bad location.

The phone in the room was not working. Hot water was not working on our first day, and we had to complain to the front desk before they could fix it. Wireless Internet will not connect the first day, and no connection at all on the second day. The restaurant is noisy, with the TV blaring while we were having breakfast. We never even got to use the swimming pool because it was under maintenance.
