Fantastic friendly staff, excellent location and great food if you need to eat at the Hotel.
Rooms are a little tired and in need of a good clean but with the new construction going up next door this is likely to improve soon.
For the price, definitely worth staying here. Nice central location and everywhere is within 20 minutes in Singapore by taxi, which are incredibly cheap. Despite a lot of construction going on next door, the Hotel is still running smoothly and I would recommend a stay. The Hotel food is good but I would recommend getting out into the surrounds for a good meal - steer clear of Newton's Circus which is a tourist trap - Club Street and surrounds have some fantastic international restaurants.

The cleaness of the room, layout of the restaurant and strategic location nearby orchard road
the room is a little bit small
the fantastic stay in singapore with fantastic hotel, nearby orchard road, affordable price, near mini mart and very clean for the room and hotel as whole. The room is a little bit small but very clean, fit with business travellers with 1 or 2 persons stay. the food is fabolous with many kind of choices as well as the breakfast serve exclusively. I will definitely come back to stay there if I visit singapore again for my regular business trip.

In the very city center, walking distance from all the point of interest for business
not very new, a new wing under construction.
I've chosen thi hotel because it's really close to SUntech Center (exibition space) and because it was a bit cheaper than the others (Conrad, SwissHotel..), but in the end the level of the hotel is much lower compared to the competitors in the same area. If you are looking for a good place to stay for your business trip, the Carlton is for you, if you can spend a little bit more, you definelty have to choose Conrad. If the purpose of your trip is leasure, you'd better stay in another area and look for a cute boutique hotel for the same price.
Shopping Tip : Sim Lim is teh place to go if you want to buy super cheap elecronics.

Room was clean
Location was convinient
Restroom flush did not work properly
I think Carlton's room was clean and decent. It din't look very new but acceptably new. View was ok...not so beautiful thou. But as long as u're always out..it doesn't really matter. The location was in the city so it was very easy to commute. The service was also good...even thou there was one waiter who wasn't good. There was some problem with the restroom's flush. I had to flus three times to get it back to clean state. It was annoying...but I dint really wanna take the pain to change room. The TV was pretty small...but they did have enough channel to view for 1-2 hours at nite. Overall, I liked it and might go back again.

The efficient and friendly staff. The proximity to shopping and dining places of all types and prices. Comfortable rooms
Carpeting a little worn out. Room layout and design is not very attractive. No discounts for patronising the hotel's restaurant (I went to Wah Lok Cantonese restaurant).
I had an enjoyable time celebrating my wedding anniversary. We just switched off my phone so as not to be disturbed and just relax. The proximity to shopping meant we do not need to bring many things along. We just had a small overnighter. The availability of inexpensive but authentic chinese food at Beach Road, Liang Seah street and the likes was good for us. We could also go across the road to the Raffles for a taste of a luxury hotel. The restaurants in the Carlton itself is quite good too.
Restaurant Tip : Explore the Beach Road area if you want inexpensive and authentic local food experiences.

Great location, very close to public transport and great local eating places nearby. We found the staff were very helpful with directions when we were trying to find an internet cafe.
Internet access was not readily available, we found the office to be shut every time we tried to use it. We also found the construction on the building next to the pool to be very annoying.
The Carlton Hotel is in a great location,it is only a short walk to the Singapore Flyer, there are great shopping centres nearby Raffles City is very close. We found great eating at the local eating malls just across the road, where you can sample all the local foods and have a cold beer also at a very reasonable price.Public transport is also readily available in Victoria Street where you can catch No .2 bus for $1 and travel direct to Chinatown. We stayed on the 23rd floor and the view from that apartment was astounding, we will certainly be staying at this hotel when travelling through Singapore again.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Do a walk down to the Singapore Flyer early in the morning before the crowds , we did on a Sunday we found the the view is fantastic.

Nice location; walking distance to convention centers and the marina for site seeing. Near bus stops and MRT stations. Friendly and helpful staff
Carpet needs refurbishing.
The stay in Carlton is home away from home. The staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is located near the convention centers and the Marina, a definite advantage for business travellers as well as for tourists. It is near bus stops and MRT stations, and walking distance to Bugis for bargain shopping.

* Can't think of anything negative
It is well located, close to the CBD and handy to places of interests. For those who like local foods - there is a food court about 50m from the hotel if you want to try local foods and very well priced.
The hotel is clean and the sheets do not smell of nicotine! The room layout and finishes are good and welcoming. The services are good and the business centre can provide extra services such as use of computer (if you don't have one) and doing photocopying and printouts from your computer.
We enjoyed our stay there and have no hesitation in recommending to all our friends. Ofcourse, we will definitely stay there again if an opportunity comes along in the future.
Restaurant Tip : There is a great food court about 50m from the hotel.

location, location, location
Rooms are getting really old. The carpet is disgusting. The bathroom reminds me on the bathroom in army barracks (too small and poor tiling) and the TV programme is very poor (no movie channels at all; except an inhouse movie channel, which shows bad quality movies every 2 hours).
As the hotel is located in an absolute prime location (Raffles City, Jismes direct around the corner and SUNTEC, Marina Square very close), its about the best, locationwise.
However the hotel needs urgent refurbishment (at least the room I was in). The carpet was awful, the bathroom looks like in army barracks and the TV doesn´t really offers entertainment, as there are no movie channels at all (except a bad inhouse channel, which shows old movies with bad quality at certain times).

Near to City Hall MRT station.
Near to Shopping malls and places to eat.
Gym is small.
Swimming pool is small.
The hotel room is of reasonable size and comfortable. I like the central location of the hotel whereby it is a short walking distance to many shopping and eateries. It is also a short walk to the City Hall MRT station. The swimming pool and the gym are both small.

Very good location in the city - presence of convenient transportation and numerous shops around the hotel, also near to the Suntec City where the conference is held.
Friendly hotel staff.
I believed that I have chosen a correct hotel to stay when atteding a conference which was held in Suntec City. The hotel had provided free shuttle service from the hotel to Suntec City which I like the most. It is located in a strategic place, convenient for transportation, presence of many good shopping malls and restaurants. The cleaniliness is above average. But I think the breakfast is too expensive. Fortunately, we can find a lots of good food stalls in the vicinity of the hotel. Overall, I was happy to stay in the hotel.

Poor booking system
Incompetent and rude staff
I booked a disabled 80+ year old relative into the Carlton on a four night stay and was amazed by the inconsiderate treatment he received including:
1. Being asked to come to reception to take a phone call instead of it being put through to his room.
2. A guest being turned away from reception because the hotel got my relative's first and surname mixed up. The guest had traveled for over 2 hours.
3. Dining staff telling him every day that he had not paid for breakfast.
4. My relative being asked to settle the bill at the end of the stay, despite my having paid for him in full beforehand.
5. General off-hand manner of staff.

Centrally located, good facility and nice restaurant.
Hotel is located convenient to all shopping centres and within walking distance to Raffles Hotel. It is reasonable in costs, considering the high hotel cost in Singapore. Staff are extremely professional and helpful. Would stay again to enjoy the convenience. The Chinese resturant in the hotel is well known for its kitchen and is worth dining there.\n
Restaurant Tip : Walking distance to Chijmes.

Current construction work is going for a new wing
Good nice hotel which has nice rooms and centrally located towards Raffles city (shopping) and convention center but also ten minute walk from Singapore. At the Raffles City center, there is also an entrance to subway.
Restaurant Tip : Go to market place in the basement of Raffles City center for dining.
