I would not recommend the Fort Canning Lodge for the average business traveler who would normally have higher standards, but it is a good value for the budget traveler especially given its location. To give a sense of the vibe of the place, it is run by the YWCA. The rooms are very basic and the bathrooms are small, and the lobby is a bit noisy and chaotic. I chose the Fort Canning Lodge because it was less than 5 minutes from Dhoby Ghaut, the intersection of three MRT lines and the start of the shopping street Orchard Road, which I really appreciated. Make sure you download directions if you plan to walk there from the MRT, it's confusing at first how you have to go through Park Mall via the parking garage on the 4th floor, but once you get the hang of it it's easy. (A lot of interesting furniture stores in that mall, BTW.) Buffet breakfast is included--average but convenient and another money-saver. The one thing I really disliked was the lack of free or reasonably priced wifi. $25/day for a day for wifi? Crazy. If you need wifi then this isn't such a great value. This is probably the biggest reason I'll think twice about staying here next time.

Very poor staff behavior. Bad room allocation

Poor,very poor staff behavior,one girl did not even give me a smile when i was checking in or when i was asking for information.There was only one staff working on my check-out date and it took nearly 20 minutes to check out and i nearly missed my flight. Didnt care about my request when i first made the booking. Breakfast was acceptable and enough for a budget hotel. The only good thing about this hotel is its very near to Doughby Ghaut station. Paying at the price they charged i would recommend my friends to stay in the other hotel.
