Clean and comfy, but not for honeymoon

Our room was clean, a little more old looking than the photos, but the bed were comfy. The bathroom was a bit small but squeaky clean. The building was off-putting at first but, the inside was okay. It's 3 star old hotel, don't expect too much. For an old hotel, the carpet doesn't smell nasty for my poor sensitive nose.
It's close to Dhoby Ghaut MRT station (2 min), Plaza Singapura and 500m from Lucky Plaza/Takashimaya (only 10 min slow-paced walking, don't be lazy!). Finding the hotel itself, if you travel by public transport, is a bit tricky. As long as you have a map, nothing is impossible. ;)
The front staff were very nice and witty. But the buffet staff were a bit grumpy and unresponsive. The variety of breakfast was good, though. The interior of the dining room was very 80s, in a bad way. It needs an urgent touch up. But if you just come down to have a breakfast, I think you won't mind.
It was too bad that the internet wasn't free despite it's being more appropriate as a business/conference hotel rather than a leisure one. Free wi-fi should have been one of its most appealing features.
There was this SGD 3.00 membership fee which I don't really understand what it was for. It was a small amount but we kinda didn't expect it. It was not we were given an option.

i have stayed at fort canning lodge many times and if travelling alone for specific assignments i find this hotel good enough as it is convenient for transpot and food. though the price is some what high for the standard and amenities, it is cheaper than other higher rated hotels along the main shopping area. which is only a 10 mins walk..My only complain is the staff attitude, they are sully and never smile maybe because i am a old person. i have written about this in my past review.Smile guys, smile not only amongst yourselves.

I enjoyed my stay. The staff were very helpful when I had to extend my booking. The rooms are comfortable although the choice of TV channels was very limited. The fridge in the room was convenient to keep drinks cool. Location close to Dobhi Ghaut MRT and shopping centres is very convenient. Breakfast was adequate with a good choice. The pool was very nice to cool down on a hot day.
