- good location between airport and city hall
- good rate for a decent hotelroom
- no breakfast included but coffee and tea available in room
- no free internet
Hotelrooms in Singapore are expensive; this is not Bangkok where you can have a 3 star hotel at very cheap price. If you travel alone and use only your hotelroom for sleeping than this kind of hotel is a good choice. The location in the popular geylang area is for me an extra but it is not representative for singapore. The rooms are very small and there is hardly any place for putting your luggage down. The service is basic but everything is there one need for a couple of days. The hotel is also used for 'transit' customers but that i didnt notice much of that kind of business. I know what to expect and not to expect so when i return to singapore it is this kind of hotel that is my favorite for the moment.

The room was clean & comfortable, staff were friendly. Good location for access to MRT, although its a long walk to the station in the heat of the day!
Vinyl mattresses?? very hot to sleep on, so you need air con going through the night. Quite a small room, but ok for 1 person.
Relatively inexpensive and good value for money. I just wanted somewhere as a base to sleep, so it was good for that. Even though it was safe, comfortable & clean, its not the kind of hotel you want to spend too much time in due to the limited facilities and small rooms.
Even though people warned me about red light district - this hotel is on the boundary of it, and I went walking around at night without any concerns.

Room with basic facilities like TV, DVD player, coffee tea making facilities. Very convenient to MRT and bus station.
This hotel is quiet and clean in their rooms. Hotel staff is friendly, prompt and helpful. The hotel is easy acccess using the MRT and bus. The hotel is just located behind the main street and also very easy to food around the hotel corner. The hotel laundry is expensive and has to wait for 2 days to get back the laundry.

the hotel is not so nice with the smell of the cigarette all the time , Receptionists are not helpful with the terrible facial expression. Only one person who was nice is the mate.

Clean and Simple room, nearby the eating places and only 10 minute walk to MRT station.
Noise from corridor and walkway at night time were very disturbing
This is the best budget hotel in Singapore I have stayed many times. If you travel frequently to singapore or this will be your first, the hotel will give you the value for money room and services.
The registration is simple and overall staff are friendly. Good night life near the hotel for eating and drinking even entertainment.
Restaurant Tip : Many good local restaurants near this hotel, from light DimSum to seafood, not only chinese food but also Thai, middle east to Sumatran food available from morning to night time.

Location-Just a 10-minute walk from MRT
Price- Inexpensive
Facilities- No fridge with very old air con that looks unsafe
In my opinion, the best thing of this hotel is the location that is quite near MRT (Kallang station). And from here you can go to many interesting places. For shoppers, it takes about 10 minutes to get to Orchard Road- Shopping Paradise. Even though the hotel is situated amid red light district, I don't feel unsafe. Despite its small room, it doesn't matter to me because I stay alone. However,it's too small for two more guests.

as usual, room was well-assigned, clean and simple.
House keeper forgot to clean the room, but complain was handled nicely.
This is favourite hotel every time I am in Singapore. Not only for business but also for leisure. Easy to reach from the MRT station and to find eating places is my reason I always return to this hotel. Since this hotel is located at the red zones, the night life is becoming the attraction of its surrounding
Hotel Feature Tip : To get the hotel from MRT is pretty easy, find the shell patrol station at geylang at the hotel is just 200 meters away.

Basic but clean and comfortable room.
Clean linen which was changed everyday,
clean bath room.
Kettle was provided with instant coffee & 3 small sealed cups of mineral water.
Food stalls are near by, walking distance (5 minutes).
MRT 10 mins walk (Kallang)
Shower had no curtain, toilet got wet after a shower and there was no bath mat.
Hot water was not enough for a long shower and closet was a bit small. Only 2 hangers were provided.
My partner and I are starting up a business in Singapore and wanted a reasonable hotel for 5 nights.
After finding Fragrance Emerald Hotel, I was intrigued to see what the hotel and rooms looked liked. The area is known to be in the red light district with many Karaoke clubs. It is really not that bad, it felt safe (we are 2 ladies).
We were pleasantly surprised to find a small hotel, very basic but clean and very comfortable, near food stalls and the train station. I was also impressed, as on one occasion, I ask the room maid to open my room door, having left my key at the reception. She politely refused, and told me to go down and ask the receptionist for the key, as she could not open the door to just anyone.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is on a budget. Bear in mind the hotel is very basic and rooms are very small, but for the price it is certainly value for money.
Restaurant Tip : If you walk to the main road and turn left there is a Dim Sum Restaurant that is very good.
There is also a fresh fruit stall at the end of the road.

Cheap
Close to good malay food
Small room
Shower sprays the whole small bathroom
Bed is a bit hard
Is in the redlight district.
Room is small, double bed takes up whole room with about a half meter space on either side. Bathroom is tiny. Location is in neighborhood, place is good and cheap and is a good place to stay for a night if coming in from the airport late.

Only 2 years old, immaculate, pleasant helpful staff, big rooms at the front (a bit small at the back), double glazing, 50 yds from restaurants and shops, exceptional price for S'pore
Hard to get there on public transport. It's a bit far from the MRT (Geylang) if you have luggage. You can take the no.24 bus from the airport but you have to change to another bus at Bedok and pay again - though the bus stop is just round the corner from the hotel. A Taxi back to the airport was only S$12.50 but that was early Sunday morning WITHOUT all the usual S'pore surcharges!
Excellent, esp. at the Agoda price, and if it was a bit closer to the MRT I'd give it 5/5 for value. (Coming back from town you can get a single bus to a reasonably close bus stop.) It's in Geylang, the red light district, but you wouldn't know it as there's no activity near this hotel. In any case, S'pore is so clean and proper that even the nearby streets with brothels look pretty innocent - and there are lots more Fragrance and Hotel 81s in those streets too.
Shopping Tip : There's no food at the hotel but you can't starve in S'pore and there are lots of pleasant, cheap eateries right near this hotel.

I have never stayed in a hotel with such a small room before. Although the price is considered cheap, the tradeoff simply is not worth it.

The closeby fruit shop and numerous restaurants and a variety of meals are available right there
MRT station is quite a long walk from the hotel . The busses to and from the airport do not operate to the hotel so one has to take a taxi which may be expensive compared to the bus.The nearby fruit shop is quite a plus if one loves to try out typical singaporean fruit and other regular fruits as well.Nearby restaurants offer a variety of dishes.Definitely value for money. Also it is quite a peaceful place
Nightlife Tip : lots of night clubs are available very close to the hotel
