good warm welcome, clean, central location
Hotel Fragrance Emerald is located in a very convenient location, not far from Kallang MRT, although you may sweat a little bit if walking with luggages... Rooms are so small but quite clean, the lift is very fast. A lot of food and eateries, fruits market nearby.
I stayed in this hotel already 3 times and will return again.
Remember that this is NOT the real city center with skyscrapers nor boutique shops like Orchard road as first-time-visitors to Singapore may expect.

location and the size of room. In singapore, it is difficult to find such a cheap hotel, therefore, the price of this hotel is reasonable. What is more, the room is clean . However, the hotel is extremely small and we need to spend about 15 mins to arrive this hotel from mrt station. It is not convinence !!!

Edge of Red light district which is not red light anymore. This hotel is at the edge of Red light district but there is absolutely no disturbances or hassles its just good budget hotel with good facilities you need not to worry about anything its very secure rooms are small but the reception told me they have bigger family rooms The food available at gaylang cannot be found anywhere in Singapore its a real treat and great.
Restaurant Tip : You have the greatest variety of food stalls available any where in Singapore on Gaylang road and they are are treat

stafff were warm, friendly and helpful, proximity to the Kallang MRT station and to restaurants, air cons which worked efficiently, twin rooms we used of a decent size no shower curtain so when you took a shower, the whole bathroom became wet from the shower spray, no fridge, no safebox either in the room or at the reception, no proper bath rug, rooms could be better cleaned My family and I stayed at the Fragrance emerald hotel for a second time from 9 - 20 July. We enjoyed our stay for the various reasons given above when mentioning the pros of using this hotel.
I will not hesitate to book into this hotel again when we are next in Singapore. It was great value for money.
Travel tip : Although this hotel is in the red light district of Singapore, we were far enough from the activities so as not to feel it much. I would stay again at this hotel with my teen sons.

Price is good value and room is clean.
Hotel staff are very nice and warm welcome. Room is small and limited space. This hotel is good for budget traveler because it cheap and located in the good traffic area that we can use both of bus and MRT, but the room is too small and location is far from the city center. This hotel is suitable for teenager or back pack but not suitable for family with old man.Finally I wolud like to suggest this hotel for someone who think about the good value hotel in Singapore.

Fragrance Hotel has a good location,its near the bus terminal and walking distance of 5-10 min walk from Kallang MRT. Its has s small room if its good for two, only two people can be accomodated. I like my stay at Singapore, i love the location of Fragrance hotel much more of its cheap price. at the corner of the road is a fruit stand and at bus terminal very convenient in going to City Hall (Bugis). etc. In going back to the hotel, it is right at the back of the hotel, very easy and we had a shortcut. The hotel looks like new, their towel is super white and also the bedsheets.
I love the hotel.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The hotel is not located in the city of Singapore but its near bus terminal, MRT, fruit stand.

Very neat & clean, & very good service at the reception. Nothing. (Some food/dining facility could have been better.) I was very reluctant before checking in at this hotel because all the reviews mentioned that it is in the red light area. But, absolutely no problem. Things have changed now completely. I stayed here for 5 days from 10th July 2009. Hotel staff were very kind. Room was well maintained. Rooms are small but u won't complaint if u had stayed at some other hotel in Sinagapore, at this cost. Bus stop is very close by, and the metro stations too. I will stay here again & recommend to all.

the room is clean, shower ok, AC, normal,receptionist friendly, superior room too small, wifi internet at room too expensive S$5 / 2 hour, TV cable only 5-7 channel it's pretty good if you're looking budget hotel near geylang, especially th nearest one to the MRT Station (Kallang)..only 5 minutes walk

travel with my wife, we spend four nights there. The room is nice enough for us. i like it because it's clean, the furniture is okay lar, not a lux room but it's more than fair for the price we paid.
although we read geylang is red district area, we don't find things that disturbing there, just like the normal area.
location is not far from Kallang MRT Station, just about 10 or 15 minutes walking.
easy to find foods, just walk outside the hotel.
Restaurant Tip : - just walk out from the hotel, u can find a lot of food stalls (kopitiam).
- nearest MRT station is Kallang.

The hotel is easily accessible by MRT and is not difficult to find. The room is small, but for its price, you can't complain. Although it was mentioned in the room description that a bath-tub would be provided, there was only a shower head in the small toilet. However, it is still satisfactory as hot water for shower is still provided as promised.
Nightlife Tip : Being located in a red-light district, the hotel is close to the busy and vibrant Geylang streets. It may be unsuitable for a family stay, but for backpackers, solo travellers or even couples, Geylang indeed presents a more interesting side of Singapore. Walk along the streets of Geylang at night and check out the durian stalls and the famous 24 hrs bean curd stall.

The hotel charge rate also is the standard and fare price. Room is provided internet Wifi wireless service (need to pay) and lobby provided 2 units of Personal Computer for internet service (15min = S$1).
Then, the hotel staff is nice, helpful & friendly. Service form the staff is good.

-No foot towel in bathroom I had 3 days stay at this hotel and the experience from the moment walking to the hotel
because I forgot to find a map before go to this hotel. It's take time and make me so tired when I arrived.
It's a good place ,nearly MRT Station but despite the location being nearby red-light district and make me a little worried of security.
The room is small but reasonable ,quiet and relatively spacious but bathroom is dirty and need foot towel.
I will stay in this hotel again next time I visit Singapore. I would highly recommend this hotel to budget travellers.

Good location for food and unique entertainment. Not the best the hotel i've been in...a little seedy perhaps. The Fragrance hotel was a decent value for the money, considering I was in Singapore. However, I knew what part of town I was staying in, but some unsuspecting person or couple may definitely take issue with its some what seedy location. However, the location is excellent for many excellent local cuisines.
