low price, good location (accessible by bus and mrt), lots of food places nearby, one ride by bus to major areas (downtown, orchard)
not near many tourist sites
small rooms/bathroom
good enough for travellers who know their way around Singapore. A bit far from some tourist sites in the west/north of the island, but still manageable (take the travel time into consideration) definitely not for families. Although its in the "red light" Geylang district, the location is better than the other hotels in the area.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : get to know the buses at the bus stop just a few minutes walk from the hotel. most of these go in the direction of downtown. you can also walk up to the mrt (around 10 mins).

no food, small room, basic facilities, poor location
We booked the Fragrance Ruby Hotel, Singapore when our flight was cancelled and we were forced to stay overnight. My thinking was just get a cheap place to rest from 6pm to 4am so we were good to go on the early morning flight. The info said 20 minutes to the airport and at around $US40 it seemed like an ideal choice. However, it cost around $25 for the taxi each way and was further out than I thought. So, next time I will just pay for a better hotel AT the airport. This hotel is very basic in a poor area of town with no facilities or restaurant, small room, poor location. The only redeeming feature was that it was close to a chines food court and a 7/11 store where we could get some basic food to eat in the room. There was a kettle for hot water and some 3 in 1 instant coffee - yeuk!
Hotel Feature Tip : Dont stay here! It cost $40 plus $50 for taxis to the airport and back. Stay at a hotel near the airport if you are just staying for a quick stopover.

convienient for the city and airport
The hotel was situated in a poorer district in Singapore. However security was not an issue. Local amenities included 24 hour shops and food stores. The room was very small with only basic facilities. Being only 15-20 minutes from the airport it does represent a cheap option for those staying 1 night and/or not wishing to stay at the more expensive airport hotels.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Easy access to the CBD.

not close to MRT station actually
Actually it is a good hotel overall to say. It is cheap, just 300 HK dollars per day...The reception is nice, and he can speak in Cantonese!! Every day they will clean up our room. But some disadvantages, the wall is thin and can hear someone outside door. And one thing, no breakfast..it is the most disappointed one.
Nightlife Tip : There is a KTV studio near the hotel.

Convenient location close to MTR System, Plenty of eating establishments in neighborhood, Plenty of Hot Water, Good A/C Unit, Friendly Front Desk Staff!
Plently of Black Mold in the Bathroom, TV remote was inoperable, no Safe in room, No Pictures on the bare walls, Hallways were always noisy, Shower stall would barely fit a child yet alone a full grown adult!
This was one of the most disgusting places I have ever had the misfortune to reserve! Had I not paid in advance, I would have fled the minute I saw the tiny room and miniscule bathroom/shower complete with plenty of black mold all around the sink perimeter! I loved the location and friendly hotel staff...but I wouldn't have let my dog sleep in room if I had a choice, but unfortunately I didn't! You do, so take my advice and book somewhere else!

The hotel is near MRT Aljunied. Walking is only 10 minutes from MRT. Many good street food nearby.
There is computer for use in the lobby for SGD1 for 15 minutes. Even I have laptop, but I always use this computer in the lobby.
The hotel is very full most of the time, bcs many group tour from Thailand, China , etc are also staying in this hotel.
Behing the hotel is the red-light district. It will be fun for men, bcs can be annoying for women.

It's a cheap but clean hotel. It's about 5-7 mintues walk from MRT (Aljunied station).
It's location is in the area that might seem to be dangereous for lady but if you come with male friend, it should be alright because at night along the street and in front of the hotel there will be lots of local male people stand and gather around there.
It's worth to stay here because it's cheap and convenient because it's close to the MRT, Aljunied station. You can take the MRT from the airport to this hotel easily, it's just 15-20 minutes. Plus there are several local food shop and restuarant around the hotel area where you can find the nice and cheap meal.
If you are looking for a budget hotel, I would recommned this hotel to you.
Hotel Feature Tip : It's near the MRT, Aljunied station and you can travel easily from the airport to the hotel. It will take only 15-20 min.

The location of the hotel is within easy walking distance to the Aljunied MRT station, and there are many cheap restaurants to chose from in the area.
The rooms are a bit small and basic , the room has a bit of a strange smell to it.
I've stayed in Fragrance hotels in Singapore a few times and you get what you pay for , a basic but adaquate place to sleep. The hotel is in a red light area but i've never had any bother from the girls or anyone else for that matter. The room is small , but had a tv,kettle, AC and even some complimentry coffee! the bathroom is a wet room , theres no shower screen or curtain so everything gets a soaking when you take a shower.
For the price its not too bad a deal !
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Try taking the bus in Singapore, the traffic flows beautifully and the system is easy to read and understand!

The hotel is located in the area that very easy to find and not too far from MRT Aljunied Station. Just a few minutes walk.
The hotel WiFi is not free. at lease 2 hours package 5 singapore dollars. And if you buy one package you have to use it until finish, you can not log-in and log-out and log-in again in the next time. In case that people really need to use the internet for short time but often use, they have to pay much more money.
The shower in the room 617 was not hot water. but the room 618 nearby was too hot water.
The hotel totally is good, clean, comfortable to go anywhere bu the MRT. close to many restaurants outside for dining. The staffs are good and friendly, good information for Singapore visiting by ourselves. If you don't want to walk too long time from the MRT station to the hotel. Just stay in this hotel.
Restaurant Tip : Many restaurants outside nearby the hotel area.

It was super cheap. All I needed was a bed to sleep and it served that purpose. lot of eating options and MRT is close by
Unfriendly staff. Bathroom was extremly small
Well I would recommend this property to people (Singles) who are on a business trip and if your not having to meet anyone at the hotel. The rooms are tiny and the bathrooms tinier. it's alright for a short stay (2-3 nights).. dont bother to go with families!

Close to airport, low price for Singapore, quiet
Old, dirty and very small rooms
If you are on a budget, this hotel may be good for you but don't expect anything special, apart from the price you don't get much more. Other budget hotels in the same area are way better than this old and smelly building.

It's pretty quiet and cheap. The room has old furniture, but it's clean. There are a lot of places to eat.
You're in the middle of a red light district, so it looks quite the ghetto area. The receptionistes in the evening could be more polite, like saying 'hello' back for instance.
The area looks pretty ghetto. Especially if you've seen the normal tourists spots of Singapore. Nevertheless, nobody bothers you around the area. It's quite safe.
It takes about 10 to 15 minutes to walk to the Aljunied Metro station from the hotel.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : If you want to see a different side of Singapore, then this whole area of Geylang could be an interesting place. Especially in the evening.

Very helpful & friendly staff including the security/door men. Restaurant serves good food.
Great budget hotel with oversized rooms. Staff was extremely helpful especially the doorman that anticipated your return at the hotel everytime to hold the door open.
Restaurant Tip : Try the restaurant inside the hotel. They serve good steaks.
