The stay at Grand Mecure Hotel was comfortable. The room was clean and comfy. However, the hotel can improve on their check in service. There always seem to be a long queue during check in period which may lead to frustrated travellers wanting to check in quickly to rest in the hotel room. Maybe more staff should be deployed to serve during check in period.a

Convenient location to East Coast Park

No issues except for check in. This is my second time staying at this hotel (both times for an event at East Coast Park), and both times they had great difficulty finding my reservation (made through Agoda). Both times I arrived late at night and had an event early this next morning, so this was not appreciated. Other that that, no problems. The rooms are large by Singapore standard for this price range, and very comfortable. Plenty of low-cost dining options just across the street as well as in Katong. Easy access to East Coast Park and the airport. It's a bit far from the central shopping district on Orchard Road, but public transport is available. Doable but maybe not convenient for people with young children. Taxis are readily available, though. There are two good-sized shopping centers nearby (on in Katong and Parkway Parade just across the street). Might be a good place for people with kids or others who are more interested in convenient access to sports/ recreation (beach, picnic areas, bicycle and pedestrian paths, seafood center, Big Splash, etc.) than downtown shopping.

The rooms have recently been refurbished and look very smart.
There was a problem with the key card activation of the power, it required adjustment of the card to bring it on and the Aircon made a strange noise when it started because of an airlock.
It was not fixed during my stay.
Lastly checkin was slow, there are always new staff.

Overrated hotel

Hotel was old and really need some refurnish. No complimentary bottled water provided for guest. Poor service rendered by front counter and housekeeping staffs. Not worth the money paid.
