Comfortable but not 5 Stars

I was rather disappointed by my stay for several reasons. Although, I must give credit to the staff as they were attentive. The Duty Manager who checked me in, Melinda, was ever so helpful when a lamp wasn't working in my room. She offered to move me however, the air-conditioning wasn't working properly and the room felt very damp and smelt a but musty.
On the second night, we were informed that the hotel would be upgrading its power supply generator between 3:30-4:30am. Concerned about the effect this would have on the air-conditioning in my room, I rang the receptionist to find out if it would be an issue and she assured me that it wouldn't be as an generator would kick in immediately. Unfortunately, this did not happen and I woke up stifling hot in the middle of the night. Not ideal in a humid country with no windows!
The hotel rates itself as 5 stars however, I'd say it's closer to 3.5-4 stars.

I have stayed at this hotel for some years, even before the name change. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are large and the bed is comfortable. It is easy to get public transport, from taxis to the nearby metro. Shopping is great, with an electronics mall nearby, and also Raffles Place. It is easy to get to all of the Marina Bay activities. There are also a lot of inexpensive restaurants and cafes nearby. It is safe for walking and there are parks nearby for relaxing. A good experience.
