Over priced for a tiny bit room!

It is such a small room with such a high price, compared to other hotels I have stayed in the area of City Hall. Way overpriced! I wonder if Agoda has done a good job to review this hotel!
Breakfast is not provided till 730am! What a joke for business traveller!

Because of the restoration and updating of Hotel 1929, we were advised by the Hotel to stay at a sister hotel "New Majestic". We were very satisfied indeed and highly recommend "The New Majestic Hotel".

Comfortable Hotel in prime location

The stay was very good with plenty to see and do in the local area. Public transort was clean and cheap if you wanted to venture further afield. The room was clean but because of its location within the Hotel the room was relatively small, stangely arranged and not like the photos on the Agoda website. The foot of the bed was the only way into bed. The wardrobe was a pole on the wall and the sink was in the bedroom. There was no fridge or minibar as stated in the room description and there was very little storage. But for short stays the Hotel was fine and would happily return in the future.

Amazingly compact!

The street is completely gentrified and, while nice, a bit overdone and lacking character. The hotel attendants were very professional and helpful. The room was tiny, but amazingly functional. Only thing missing - towel rack. The street is nice and quiet at night, so it was easy to sleep. All in all, accommodation in Singapore is a rip off for what you pay! But this hotel was a decent experience.
Shopping Tip:
I was expecting to find some lovely hand crafted fans i Chinatown - forget it! All 2 bob crappola you would find in a kiddies show bag. Disappointing!

a brief walk from the mrt station, passed the sri layan sithi vinayagar temple, to this typical singaporian shop-house-lined street. even arriving late, i was greeted with a friendly and sincere welcome, seemlessly checked in and was able to go right into a tasty latenight meal before the kitchen closed at the adjacent restaurant. though tiny, the 3rd storey, street-side room i booked was perfect for one person, two nights stay. clean and well thoughtout space (even if i'm not thrilled about showering in the same stall as i use a toilet, that the toilet was wall-hung and the lid closed to keep water out, are well-considered details) with no less then three types of light, exponentially allows transforming the room into at least 5 different ambiances. don't miss the library bar across the street for a nightcap.
