Convenience shop and food is easily available within walking distance. Nearest MRT station is about 10-15 minutes walking distance, Aljunied station. Room is simple and clean with hot shower. Reception staffs are quite friendly.
The hotel is located in a red light district area, therefore family with children are not advisable to stay in this area. The room can be quite stuffy with cigarette smell/smoke.
I find the hotel is simple and nice with the economical price. It's suitable for people who wants a convenient place to get food anytime of the day. The public transportation is also convenient as it's about 10-15 minutes walk from the hotel. This location is not suitable for family with children as it's a red light district area.

-good location (10 minutes walk to MRT; 2 minutes to bus stop;
-clean;
-(local) shops @ restaurants within walking distance.
Many brothels in the vicinity (although the girls and clients don't bother you.
I was (positively) surprised by the hotel as it's clean and close to the MRT, bus stop, (local) shops and (mainly Indian and Chinese) restaurants. The rooms are not too big but for 1 or 2 nights stay it's okay. Although the area is a red light district the girls and clients don't bother you. I reckon there's no cheaper place to stay closer to the city center (15 to 30 minutes depending on time and destination).
Travel tip : If one has to use public transport a lot, consider purchasing an Ez-link pass (the MRT boot at the airport sell the pass for S$ 15); it works out much cheaper (and convenient) than paying the fares cash.

Close to MRT – about 10 mins walk, cheaper than the airport transit hotel, gave us 4pm check out at no extra cost.
None of note – at that price it’s hard to complain!
We used the hotel as a base for a rest whilst in transit through Singapore. It’s nothing fancy but it’s clean, was quiet during the day and has a comfortable bed and a hot shower. It’s around 30 mins from the airport on the MRT and then walking distance (approx 10 mins) from there to the hotel. There are plenty of eateries in the area so handy for a meal before heading back to the airport.
Restaurant Tip : The restaurant up the road does a good roti and curry for breakfast!

- Low price
- Room just nice for the price.
- Have to walk 10-15 minutes to the MRT.
The price for the room is low, one of the lowest you can get in singapore for a one star hotel. Room is ok, equipped with cable TV, hairdryer, hotswhower. The weakness of the hotel is that the MRT is about 10-15 minutes walk. Overall, satisfied with the stay and it is recommended if you are looking for a budget hotel.

Nothing cons so far. Ah, except for the noise from the air conditioner that anoyed my sleep a bit.
First thing I like about Hotel 81 Star was the warm welcome from the front desk. I love to see the smile wherever I come specially upon first arrival. The location is good and with the good rate on the location not far from everywhere what else should I expect for?

Good Location - only a few MRT stops from Changi Airport with very good bus connections with the town centre and other parts of the island. They have very friendly and helpful staff. They offer us free internet connection but unfortunately my netbook didn't fit.
Poor Bathroom - it is a standup shower with toilet by the side without any separation. The hotel has to rework with the bathroom facilities.
We arrived very early to the hotel at 6:30 am. The hotel offers us a place to take shower after the midnight flight. Remember the check-in time is at 11 am. The hotel does not offer breakfast but the cheap eat are available along sims street and geylang street. The hotel is located at Geylang which is one of the red light districts in Singapore. I found that the area is very peaceful and quiet with 24-hour non-stop eating and drinking just a few steps away from the hotel and share with the multicultural living with the Singaporeans. Supermarkets and 7-Eleven and Dollar Stores are nearby. Basically it is a quiet neighborhood with good transportation, Aljunied MRT station is about 400 metres away. At the Bus stop in front of 7-11 at Lor 18, bus is going west bound to Chinatown and Bugis. #100 is going to Golden Mile Complex which is a cross border bus terminal to Malaysia. From GMC, take $4 cab to Queen Street bus terminal for the Yellow Bus to J.B. We tried 2 nights coming back to Geylang district from Clarke Quay by bus at S$1.2 (#61,#63 or #80) past midnight, just get off the bus when you see the fruit stalls with mountains of durian OR tell the conductor where you are going. Remember the last bus from Clarke Quay is around 00:40, if you missed the last bus, you have to take a cab with 50% surcharge. Overall impression is great. Staff are friendly and helpful. Good value of money.

Close to public transportation and very easily accessible to all points in Singapore. Also, food stalls are close by and open almost like 24 hours...
Red light district area so if you are a single traveler guy, then it's not a problem otherwise not recommended. No WIFI but wired internet connections only.
Inexpensive place to stay. I forgot to close the bathroom door and by morning, floor was a little bit moist as the hot air from the bath room came out. So, make sure that you close the sliding door of the bathroom if you don't want your floor to be sticky in the morning.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : If you only have say 2-3 days stay in Singapore, the $63 Sightseeing tour pass is a good value available @ Suntec. That includes pass to Sentosa islands and the amazing show "Songs of the sea". Also includes the 2 hop on buses and the Singapore flyer.

Good service and clean hotel.
Room area is standard and clean and quiet. Good enough for single or coouple to stay there.Although location is red zone, quiet and peaceful in hotel room. But we should not go there with family especially with daughters.Except that everything is fare enough to stay and enjoy there. I like the hotel condition but I would not go there with family. May be I will be there alone.

Hotel 81 star is a good choice if you need a buget hotel in Singapore. It is located in the area of Aljunied with many food courts and restaurants nearby. However, it is quite noisy as well because there are many people moving around this area. The room cleaning is not complete as you can see cockroaches running around.
Restaurant Tip : Many restaurants nearby...

close to the MRT - In walking distance, Hotel is clean and close to lots of local style eating places.
Rooms are small, and the shower and tolet are close together so it gets very wet when you shower.
I have stayed here twice, as a overnite waiting for a connecting flt. It is convent to the airport. But if you like luxury, and close to shopping this is not it. The hotel is in the red light area, so .... Anyway for an over night stop its ok.
Nightlife Tip : There are pleanty of eating and drinking places.

Good location near MRT, bus station, and food courts
insecure area, far from downtown
Good location among backpacker area in Singapore. Value of money while easy access to down town via train and buses. It is also a good place for eating though still quite expensive and not decent food. The whole area is quite insecure but it is ok for most travellers since Singapore is quite stable. However, extra care and cautious is not too much to protect yourself and your family.
Quite interesting area where you can see many low class people from many countries in Asia. Do not expect every one can speak good English even hotel staff since the official language here in this area is Chinese.
The room is quite tiny and the bathroom is not very good.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Sentosa is nothing to do and see now perhaps in next year could be nicer with Universal studios. Jurong bird park is excellent place for children and family.
