Warming Service, good airconditioner, clean
Limited Internet connection
Well, thanks for the Hotel 81 Tristar's good services, the guys there are very freindly and warming, and there is a nice and clean swimming pool inside, this is a real surpris which makes us joyful. On the other hand, some views of the rooms are not so good, even the windows can not be open. Meanwhile, the internet connect there is really limited, we got 3 rooms, but only 1 room has internet connection, and it's cable link, not wireless, if you can imporve these, that would be cool.
Anyway, you leave us a good impression. Thanks!

I liked this hotel because easy to find food. 24hrs restaurants just right down the hotel. Foods so nice and quite cheap. Shopping complex nearby. Easy to find taxi. Safe place to stay.
There is no personnel car parking space provided. there is no appropriate space for taxi nor the vehicles for loading or unloading for the hotel guest.
My family quiet happy stayed at this hotel because it cheap hotel, convenient, safe, cleaned & the staff are helpful. Even my 11 yrs old son fell safe when bought food and drinks downs the restaurants and 24 hrs shop. For my children they happy to swim at this hotel swimming pool. for the taxi no problem also if you gone to use MRT you have to walk 7min.
Shopping Tip : Especially those who are using credit cards for paying method, Ensure you ask them first how much you are gone to pay before you give your credit card. Otherwise you gone up to pay higher price then you expected although you card already swipe by them.

the hotel said breakfast wasn't included but I believe it should have been
For the economy traveller who is in transit or has light luggage, it is so easy to get to the hotel from the airport using SMRT. Get off at Paya Lebar and walk about 400m. Rooms are spacious and clean but a bit spartan. There is a big range of local eating places directly outside the front door.
Travel tip : save on taxi, hotel and food costs by staying here.

walking distance to MRT
good value food areas - Zains at the end of street
about 20 min walk to beach
clean
has a pool
helpful and friendly staff
roomy hotel rooms
cant think of anything to dislike
yes was a red light area but nothing to worry about, no one approaches you, has a 'feel safe' environment
Our second visit to this hotel was better than the first, new owner, much nicer staff, swimming pool is great after the humidity of the day and walking around. Thoroughly enjoy this hotel because it is so handy to MRT and that will take you anywhere. Has some market stalls in easy walking distance. Money changer and supermarkets very close by. LOVE IT!!! LOVE SINGAPORE!!! will definately stay here again. Please note there is no restaurant at the hotel though so there is no breakfast etc. 'Cheers' (deli) right next door to hotel, has everything u need for a snack, Bakeries in walking distance can buy from there and take back to hotel.
Restaurant Tip : ZAINS restaurant close by he has the best food at very cheap prices eat in or take away. Fantastic staff there too.

Friendly staff,
excellent location,
Swimming pool,
Many food shops nearby,
Airconditioning excellent
Large room
Slightly tatty lino floors,
Nothing else to complain of
I have stayed at several hotels in the 81 chain (also in the Fragrance chain), and I think this is the best yet. For budget hotels, the rooms are really large. There are lots of really great eateries in the nearby vicinity. The Red Light district on Joo Chiat Road is far enough away not to matter. Finally, the staff were really nice, giving me free use of the computer, and meeting my request for a room on an upper floor. I'll definitely be staying there again.
Restaurant Tip : The cheap Vietnamese eateries on Joo Chiat street were really good value for money. So were the Halal eatinbg houses directly under the hotel.

Great food selection next to the hotel.
Great location.
Great pricing through Agoda.
Helpful staff.
Cleanliness.
We loved the location for several reasons. The area had several restaurants with very reasonably priced food available. The food center next door had a marvelous selection of good food and a tremendous selection of great drinks, all pictured and priced on illuminated signs. The staff gave us directions to several hawker centers which were great opportunities to try the native food.
Travel tip : A large native market is located only one block from the hotel.

Friendliness and helpfulness of the staff is good. Cleanliness is good. Location is great. The price through Agoda is great. I would definatly stay there again.
Breakfast is poor. But the food and selection next to the hotel is excelent.
We really enjoyed our stay here as the staff was very helpful with any questions you had and they were very friendly. Being able to use the internet her was also a plus. Even though we didn't use the swimming pool, it was nice to see it being used and it was a feature of a better class hotel. The food court next to the hotel had a great selection of good food and marvelous drinks. Be sure to visit the native market, only one block away, for bargains in clothing, food, etc.
Shopping Tip : Be sure to visit the native market one block from the hotel where there are good bargains in clothing, food, etc.

Friendly staffs and good facilities.
Not provide shoes in the room, it caused the room become wet or dirty. Please review.
I am from Greece, my friend recommended to stay in Hotel81- Tristar located at the Onan Road. Hotel located at the center, close with MRT station and a lot of public bus to city areas as well. The only unsatisfying thing is they don't provide the shoe in the room. Would stay in Tristar again if travel to Singapore.
Restaurant Tip : Close with the City Plaza, nice food - Ban Mian (5th floor), very nice taste especially the home made chili.

Good location and 15 minutes to MRT station. Staff are friendly and helpful. Room is clean and big.
Air-con is a bit noisy. Sound insulation is poor. Noise from outside could be heard clearly.
The hotel is at a good location with many restaurants near-by. There is one 24-hour restaurants just downstairs. Close to Malay communities with many good Malay food. I enjoy a bit eating in there. The hotel is 15 minutes walking distance to MRT station - very convenient. Staff are helpful and friendly. Room is clean are big. I will stay again next time when I am in Singapore. This is a value for money hotel. It is nearer to the east side of Singapore compared to many other hotel located in the city centre. Convenient for people who spend more time in east Singapore.

The staff are friendly. Pleasant atmosphere in the lobby. Free Wifi in the rooms and internet access in the office area on the first floor. Good location.
Stale smell within the hallways as well as the rooms. No lounge chairs surrounding the pool, restaurant/bar at the pool closed.
Tristar Hotel is in a good location, only about a five to ten minute walk to the MRT as well as a market area. They have free wifi in the rooms and a friendly staff. However I was disappointed with the pool area. There was only one old rickety wooden lounge chair by the pool to relax at and the restaurant bar was not open. The hallways and the room had a stale, moldy smell. I was surprised with the shower as well. I am 5 foot 3 inches tall and I had to crouch down to get under the shower head because it was positioned so low. I can't imagine a tall person in the shower, they would probably have to kneel down! For the rate I had expected better.

The hotel was clean and friendly with a welcoming atmosphere. The staff friendly and efficient, location was good near mrt and bus system and the hawkers stands nearby were good for budget priced meals. Pool was great for cooling down and relaxing.
The only thing i could fault was the lack of variety with breakfast and the noise from other rooms was a little bit hard to get used to but we enjoyed our stay.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Tristar and would recommend it to anyone looking for a reasonable priced hotel in Singapore. Rooms were of a good size and always clean as were the public areas. The staff were friendly and helpful which helped to make our stay memorable. The positioning of the hotel was good for us as we traveled by public transport which was convenient to the hotel.
Restaurant Tip : Eat at the hawkers stands nearby as the value for money is good and the food is delicious as i am a professional chef, i know what i am talking about here.

Great value.
Friendly, helpful staff.
Large, clean, functional rooms.
Good, reliable, fast wired internet.
New grocery store three minutes walk away.
24 hour reception.
Breakfast a little basic.
Room-key (or at least the tag it is attached to)required for room power.
I have stayed here several times now, staff are always helpful, friendly and actually seem to care about their guests! Unlike many other Singaporean rooms in this price range, the size isn't at all cramped, hotel is clean and quiet and everything works. Easy access to MRT train, and taxis plentiful in non-peak periods. Top spot!
Hotel Feature Tip : When taking a taxi to the hotel, make sure you tell the driver Onan Road near the malay village or near joo chiat place, (a famous shopping mall), as there is another road (Oman Rd) which drivers often think you want to go to, and it isn't anywhere near the hotel.

Swimming pool, changing rooms, showers and toilets. Well proportioned rooms, lifts to all floors, easy access to local shops and food outlets
Hollow corridors and if guests are noisy their loud voices tend to reverberate
This hotel is in an excellent location, buses and MRT station very close. Staff always extremely polite, courteous and helpful. Sheets and towels changed every day, also tea, coffee and mineral water provided on a daily basis. Televisions in every room with English & Australian programmes. Most rooms had views of the street and surrounding areas. Communal areas had comfortable sofas and chairs and there was internet access for guests
Restaurant Tip : There were several excellent hawker centres, Chinese and Indian restaurants in the surrounding area. All served first rate food which was very keenly priced

Basic accomodation for the money spent
Short term accomodation only. Reasonably close to airport with taxi costing approximately $15 singapore dollars. Clean large room with basic bathroom. Staff were very helpful at checkin and checkout. The hotel is close to the Malay Village market and various shops and restaurants. Train station close by along with other public transport.
