Hotel Re, Singapore

Hotel Re is one of the cheaper hotels in Singapore and very funky. Staff friendly and helpful. Very close to china town for food and mrt. On first night we stayed in a room with out a window which was strange but the staff were very helpful to change our room the next night, overall good value and an enjoyable stay.

Generally this hotel was very good but after booking a superior, double bed room we were disapointed to find we had been allocated a twin room. On pointing this out to the reception staff we were informed that we would be moved to the room we had booked the following day, this never happened. This was disapointing, however, the room we had was clean and everything worked well. If we had booked a twin room we would have been delighted. With the exception of the reception, the staff were very polite and helpfull, particularly the young concierge. The hotel location is quiet and a little off the beaten track but there is a bus stop at the bottom of the driveway and the Outram Park MTR is a pleasant ten minute stroll away. If it is raining the concierge will call a taxi and taxi rates are very resonable. Overall a good hotel, just a pity we had a problem over the room type. We didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on the food.

If you can get a good rate, and just want a comfortable place to rest/sleep, this hotel is fine. Everything inside is brand new, the beds are really comfortable, and the big screen TV is great. Plus there's free wireless internet in the rooms, which is really handy. Also, I love the L'Occitane products they provide in the bathroom. The rooms are really small though, so can be cramped for more than one person. However if you are new to Singapore and want a good base to explore from, this is not the hotel for you. Its location is in pretty much in suburban heartlands, so its quite a walk to reach Chinatown proper, and its also not convenient for public transport either.
