Marina Bay

East of downtown Singapore, Marina Bay operates business offices, the Marina Bay Golf Course and the iconic Raffles Hotel. In the last few years, the district gained international attention by marking off a street circuit and hosting a night time Formula One Grand Prix event.

Marina Bay is quickly becoming some of Singapore’s most sought-after real estate. The easternmost portions were underwater before the Marina Barrage was built as part of an ambitious land reclamation project. Hotels in Marina Bay are new and luxurious, and they’ve become favorites with business travelers as well as affluent visitors after the up-market dining found at Clarke Quay and Boat Quay. This area is also a good place to shop for electronics, especially at Funan Digital Mall and Millenia Walk.

Business travelers in Marina Bay base themselves near Esplanade Drive, where a dense cluster of business towers is located. High Street Centre, a mixed commercial and residential tower looming over the district, is another important business waypoint. It’s a five-minute walk from Clarke Quay MRT station and a little farther on from Esplanade Mall and Theatre.

Beyond great shopping, dining and business establishments, Marina Bay also hosts important cultural institutes. Among these is the Civil Defence Heritage Gallery, the Asian Civilizations Museum and the iconic half-fish, half-lion Merlion statue. Singapore’s oldest church, the Armenian Church of St Gregory, is also here near the quays.

Marina Bay is becoming a popular address for affluent locals, and a thriving expatriate community lives in this area. The newly opened shopping centers, chic lounges and hotels in Marina Bay are uniquely suited to accommodate international visitors, whether they’re here for business or pleasure.
