Sentosa

Sentosa Island can be reached in just over ten minutes thanks to a cable car from Singapore city center. The ride itself is worth the view it affords, but the real pleasure is at the end of the line, where lavish five-star resorts and hotels on Sentosa Island await.

Sentosa Resort operates a Universal Studios theme park, Underwater World oceanarium and a 24-hour casino. Hotels on Sentosa Island are loaded with amenities and modern facilities.

Sentosa Island began as a humble fishing village, and later served the British as a naval outpost. Resort development began late in the 1960s and has continued into the present. Today, Sentosa is Singapore’s leading resort destination, popular with tourists from Singapore and across Asia.

Sentosa Golf Course is also part of the resort complex. Other attractions on the island include Tiger Sky observation tower, Fort Silos, a replica of Singapore’s iconic Merlion statue and a few outlying islands with laid-back atmosphere and traditional villages.

For Singaporeans on holiday, the most attractive part of a holiday on Sentosa Island is usually the chance to relax on the beach. The three main beaches are Tanjong, Palawan and Siloso, the last of which has its own boardwalk and strip of ocean-facing restaurants.
