Nice hotel close to Neil Road where I spent most of the nights out for a drink, quiet location and not much noise in hotel itself, room only OK, furniture little dated, no balcony, bathroom only ok as well, close to the metro and walking distance to Chinatown, one of the main tourist attractions and shopping district, hotel facilities very average although the big pool was a plus. quite expensive although looking at the prices of other hotels in SNG not too bad... and if u don't book with breakfast, it will cost u 35 S$ a day...

It's a good experience to stay there. The hotel is quite new and tidy. Room space is very big when comapring with most of hotels in Singapore. 5 minutes walk can reach to MRT and China town.
Only one problem is WIFY which is supplied with extra charge, but the speed is very fast.
Generally very good to me.
Nightlife Tip:
There are many club and KTV near this hotel.

Well located hotel for Chinatown, Food and MRT

For Chinatown, just turn left from the main entrance and walk direct 10-15 mins you will come to a local food court across a rd more or less in front of you- lovely cheap food there, the locals helped us as well-. If you continue to the left past this, Chinatown is across the road. markets and food St is more or less right there. MRT is across the park from the front entrance, just follow the path. Trips are cheap and everything is well signposted in English.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Waste of time trying to book sightseeing at the hotel, they will give you a couple of pamphlets but you have to book yourself (we didn't want t do this). Luckily I remembered there was a sign to the Chinatown visitors center so we went there. They did everything for us, including organizing Hotel pick-up and drop-off, it was excellent.

Pleasant, clean and comfortable

My wife and I had a pleasant stay at the Orchid hotel for two weeks. The hotel is just next to the Tanjong Pagar MRT station, making it very accessible to get to all locations of town. The room is very modern, clean and well-maintained, and the service was very good. It definitely contributed to the success of our entire visit.

While the hotel was in a convenient location and the staff were very helpful, I would definitely not stay here again. For one, the layout of the room was quite strange. There was one big room with almost no furniture which made it look abadoned. There was a TV mounted on the wall, but you had to stand to watch it (no sofa). There was TV in the bedroom, but it was mounted in such a way that you had to lay on the bed sideways to watch it. Finally, the bedroom was right next to the elevator shaft so you hear the sounds of the elevator all night. For the price, it should have been much, much nicer.
