Check-in services is Great, Very Good Hotel

we have 5 members booked 2 rooms and the check-in lady let us have the room before time (12.30 instead of 14.00) and allow us to keep one room for late check-out till 15.00 without x-charges which is great and thanks to them because our flight leaves in late evening. sales department helps a lot also on x-tra bed request with a great co-ordination. you have to contact them directly through their website for x-bed due to unable to book for x-bed directly from agoda (but you can have a request in agoda booking also).
room is large enough and very comfortable. hotel is very close to city hall mrt 300m, with only 5 minutes walk and a 500m reach distance to clarke quey or raffles place shopping center.
Shopping Tip:
China Town is only one MRT Station from Clarke quey and you can take various buses from the hotel there with only a couple stop.

Hotel was very nice, and the rooms were great! The series of two elevators I had to take to get from the ground to my room was irritating. I booked and paid for two night stay, unfortunately due to work I could only stay the first night. I asked the hotel receptionist if I could have the two bottles of water I took from the minibar (no free water) for free siance I wasn't staying the already paid for 2nd night - I was told no and still had to pay for the bottled water.....!
Restaurant Tip:
There are plenty of restaurants near the hotel, so don't plan on eating at the hotel, save your money and eat at the Peninsula Plaza located just across from the hotel. Also across from the hotel around the corner, there is a 7-11, ideal for buying beers or licquor for cheaper than you can find at the hotel.

loved the peninsular excelsior hotel alot. the location and the large rooms helped my 3 night stay very much.
on the negative side , there was one of 3 lifts out of action during my stay and it meant longer waits for getting in and out of the hotel ...definitely annoying. the other issue was there wasa nofree wifi in the room or in the foyer. it was available at $10 per 4 hours or $30 per day. pool was being cleaned for 6 hours right when i wanted it. this could have been done during the night so as not to inconvenience guests.not good enough.
Travel tip:
Plan 5 minutes aheda and the slow lift service will niot be a bother.

I have to say this place doesnt deserve a 4 star rating.
ONE HOUR just to check us into 4 rooms and definitely am embarassment to my guests who were with me.
Very poor skills in customer service from manager right to the receptionist.
No smiles , silence when you query and charcoal black faces when you put them in their place for failing to handle customer complains.
Asked me to pay for extra on my room AFTER WAITING AN HOUR and not informing me of the actual situation.

Only had twin rooms available on non-smoking floors which was a problem. I was upgraded (still a twin) to club floor so I could use the lounge which was convenient as I had somewhere to work/relax out of my room.
Room was excellent, spacious with all facilities I expect.

the hotel is one of the oldest i can remember. location is always great, but service is just average. we were looking for some place to eat for our dinner during our stay, and decided to go to the chinese restaurant as indicated in the directory provided in the room. to our surprised, the restaurant doesnt exist anymore, and apparently we were told that the restaurant has disappeared for sometime. i really wonder why the directory has never been updated.
