Location is great with clean room
Walking distance to MRT station , Marina Bay, Clark Quay
8.3
We stay at this hotel for 2 nights. The staff are friendly and very helpful. It is only 5 minutes walk from Cityhall MRT station so very easy to travel by MRT. Some of the best places of interest is in walking distance ie. Marina Bay , Merlion Statue, Boat Quay, Clark Quay, Chinatown. I found the room is smaller than I have imagined but it has a nice view from the window. So overall I will recommend this Hotel for other traveler.

Convenient location, mediocre service
6.3
On the plus side, the hotel is in an excellent location, walking distance to Boat Quay and various sights at the heart of the city. Even if you don't want to walk very far, the nearby Armenian Church -- perfect for some quiet meditation and a piece of oft-undervalued heritage of Singapore -- was worth a relaxing late afternoon visit.
The hotel features an outdoor swimming pool that is perfect for a splash and some sunbathing. However, the pool is relatively small (an estimated length of <20m) and is fully viewable from the hotel's lobby area.
On a less positive note, the building itself is rather old and everything inside the room points to the hotel's positioning as a budget hotel rather than an upscale establishment that is worth the "Peninsula" and "Excelsior" brand names. The amenities are basic -- eg. there is a hair dryer but no ironing board or iron.
Also, it is worth mentioning that we were held relatively strictly to the 2pm check-in time. We arrived at the hotel at 8am after an overnight red-eye flight, but were told to come back after 12 noon to check in. Of course, the check-in policy was made clear to us upon reservation. But we did make a request for early check-in and indicated our flight arrival time. While we did not expect any special treatment, neither did the hotel respond to us saying that an early check-in wouldn't be possible.

Great Location but old rooms
5.7
Receptionist not too helpful and very clumsy. Internet was included in my booking but wi-fi was not available in the room. They gave me a router to install. The hotel is not well kept and the breakfast was nothing special.

well located, good hotel
well located, good hotel, good breakfast
8.3
The hotel is located close to the subway and buses and not far from the river.
The rooms are a bit on the small side, but not too small to feel comfortable. The breakfast ist ok, a bit slow, if you wanna fresh prepared food. At all there is nothing special on that place (probably the pool) - everything is standard, not bad and not a lot to tell about.

City Classic
Indian Restaurants Nearby and hence the location
9
It has a perfect location and the right place for a holiday or business trip to this business district filled city. For Vegetarians like us, there are many veg restaurants around. It is also very close to Little India and other fun locations which can be even walked down. It is however perfect for a walk around with big big malls and shopping complexes nearby.
Nightlife Tip:
Clarke Quay is the best place to hit in the night as it has one of the best clubs and restaurants of the city. The city becomes alive in the evening and the Gondola ride is one thing which any traveller shouldn't miss.

i've used the hotel on more than one occasion now and whilst certain things aren't great - breakfast for example, it's in a great location and the rooms are decent enough particularly in the excelsior tower.

Great location but foul drainage smell
9
The location was great, walking distance to city hall MRT. Convenient for us with an eleven month old baby. But because it's an old hotel, the drainage in the bathroom stunk of sulphur. The rooms have been refurbished though and looks new. Baby cot was free of charge. I was glad I only had one night there otherwise I might have complained to management to do something about the smell.
The hotel also has a see through swimming pool. A bit wrong because the see through pool was right in front of the reception waiting area. Quite a deterent for people who want to swim without having others ogle at their bodies underwater.

great location but rooms a little shabby
walking distance from all the sights
8.3
We were placed in a single room despite booking and paying in advance for a double room. Once we explained, staff moved us to the bigger room. Staff friendly and room was spacious. Some parts of the holtel looked a little shabby but it was good value overall.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
You can now take an MTR to the Marina Sands area. The new MTR opened on 14 Jan 2012 and is linked to the whole MTR network.
