Good Hotel and good value for the money!
price, location and clean
7.7
The hotel is in a good location for transport from the City Hall MRT Station. Cab's can take awhile, as the que can be long and the number of cab's short. Cab's are expensive, so take public transport. It's close to a number of malls and numerous fast food establishments. I would say this is a good bet for a less expensive business hotel.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
MRT is within a block of the hotel, so easy to use public transport and save a bundle.

Peninsula Excelsior Hotel,
Location and pricing during F1 Weekend
7.7
Used the hotel during the F1 weekend. Next to the track, walking distance and close to area 3 and the gates. Rooms were renovated and new. Price was reasonable for track side and some rooms can see the back straight.

Pros and Cons of the Peninsula
The location is wonderful - close to public transport and various shopping malls, and just a stroll away from Boat Quay.

When I checked in the room requested was not available. Then after a half hour wait we were shown to a deluxe room which had a bathroom one could only call poor. The shower over the bath was not adjustable (I am short) and was broken, and the mould around the fittings was very much in evidence.
I requested another room, and this was an improvement with a walk in shower area but with the shower head problem! Mould was also evident in the shower area. Not good enough.
The staff were obliging and upgraded me to my satisfaction. The hotel is undergoing renovation so one hopes that improvements will continue. I stayed here last year and found the breakfast poor quality. The best thing about the Peninsula is the location - a big selling point.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Great location, very central to shopping malls, public transport and the river.

The upgraded rooms were good. I would recommend for business travellers. It has sufficient workspace unlike what you can find in some of the new boutique hotels.
Amenities are also nearby - money changer, food, supermarket, telco companies, MTR 7 minutes walk away etc.
Service at the counter should be improved - although they were very courteous, there were a lot of trainees and they were slow.
Breakfast was very basic & bland and nothing to shout about.

Peninsula / Excelsior Hotel
Efficient and helpful housekeeping & technical services.
6.7
Check in was smooth, however, no guidelines were given on how to log on to the internet. Some of the reception staff did not seem to know about all the Hotel services and what to see & do in the area when asked for help / guidance.
Rooms were clean, well laid out and housekeeping, technical and room service were efficient and also helpful / quick to respond when some minor problems were raised.
The lifts were under repair, so waiting times were long and lifts were overcrowded.
Swimming pool and gym facilities were acceptable.
The breakfast area was sometimes overcrowded and difficult to find a table for 4 people.
I would stay at the Hotel again, but only as a business travler, and not with my family.

The room was charged without breakfast or anything maybe it was peak we dont know . It was a twin single bed room which looked a bit dated. The hotel is protraying itself as a 4 star but charging 5 star money. I think its more on the 3 star level given its dated looks and amenities. Would have been better topping up 30 usd and stay in a proper 5 star.

They gave us a great room which we were grateful for, high floor overlooking the marina. All rooms have been recently updated which was necessary but the building itself is still tired.
Service and cleanliness was great as was the location.
