i helped booked the hotel for a friend in town. for his budget, i selected riverview for it's proximity to cbd and the lively stretch of restaurants at robertson quay.
the booking got upgraded to deluxe, which was very kind of them, but was disappointed to hear from my friend that the double bed was in fact two single beds joint together.

Must try their fried rice at the lobby restaurant. Nearby chinatown, There are bars and restaurants along the river walk.

It was a short stay. Less than 10 mins cab ride from Orchard. There is also free shuttle service to city.
Shopping Tip:
make sure you ask for tax form from the place you shop in order to claim gst tax return.

It has a great view of the River behind the hotel and a short distance from downtown Orchard. Unfortunately the biggest let down is the room furnishings. The bed, mattress, sheets and everything else is just old, tattered and what not. It is sad because the staff are really pleasant and try hard to please. Even the person checking me in - nice Malay lad who helpfully try to assist when I enquired about locations around Singapore, cost of cab, timing, etc
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
River behind is brilliant for evening cocktails and walking around there are a number of cafes
