The "Peacock Concept" is nice. Historical building (and area), beautiful windows with shutters. Polite day staff. Free internet in the room and 1 computer in the lobby. Rooms that face the street have a great view but noisy until late at night.
The hotel is 13 years old and it shows! The carpets and mattresses need to be completely replaced! Small rooms so designed for short stays with an overnight bag only. Breakfast has NO salad or vegetables. Only high on carbohydrates. Good coffee though!
Location is great! 7/11 next to the hotel for late night snacks and right next to Chinatown and subway. Therefore, many restaurants in the area. (Try Temple Street and evening night market!) Easy to find and taxi drivers know the area by street name. However, I recommend the other hotels on the same street/area which run about the same price that are newer and nicer.
Travel tip : For just coffee, quick lunch or a night cap, try the Coral Village Restaurant which seems to always be open! It's right on corner...can't miss it!

this hotel is nice for the couple , not suitable for the big family .too small room. no window .
this location very well ,near chinatown and many chinese restarant .near pub and MRT station .

the floor of the washroom is dirty!~shower space is too small!~ver noise at night!~
the location is good which is exactly opposite to 1929 hotel!~very near the mtr!~ it takes only around 8-10 minutes to get to the station!~ the staff is nice when i ask him where is the post office!~ he has tried his hard to tell me how to get there!~but there are bad points of th hotel!~ the lift got very bad smell!~ i can't tolerate use it and would rather choose to go to the second floor by stair!~ besides, the washroom is bad!~ the floor is dirty and the shower space is too small!~ moreover, the outside is very noisy even till mid night!~if there is a second time, i would rather choose to pay more for a better hotel!~
