My fiancee and I decided spend our engagement weekend at the Royal Plaza after reading some positive reviews. We found the hotel to have been the perfect choice. The room was well appointed and sizeable, the staff were outstanding in offering assistance and in their friendliness and the location near the IOrchard shipping district was perfect. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room size could be better...

the check-in process was very prompt and courteous. however, we weren't told that we could check in at the club floor as ours is a club room. well, i guess the staff were eager to settle us in which was very positive.
the room was quite comfy and well furnished but i guess the lavish furnishings reduced the room size. the bed was one of the best we slept in and the rwquested firm pillows were the best in all of the hotels we stayed so far.
the bathroom was great. if only the minibar had more drinks and snacks. =-p
we requested for a small gift from the hotel to celebrate our wedding anniversary since we placed the online booking but we had to remind the staff several times before a gift was sent several hours before we check out.
Restaurant Tip:
The food in the club lounge was excellent! The Singapore Sling is a must try!

Convenient and helpful
The Royal Plaza on Scotts has an ideal location for anybody looking to experience Orchard Road.

We had reason to seek advice from the Check-in desk, and also we required the assistance and advice of the concierge on occasions. The assistance was helpful, and the advice was always good. This advice helped us to enjoy our Singapore trip more than we otherwise would have.
The free minibar and internet were also appreciated.

the hotel is situated at the heartland of orchard. if shopping is your main thing to do whilst here then you're in good hand. at a stone's throwaway, you have ion, far east and tangs. from cheap to luxury line, you have it all line up at your doorstep. you may seem to pay an extra bit compared to hotel further away but you will save on your cab fares. because hailing a cab during peak hour in singapore is horrible. i've had my fair share of with that and at the end, i have to drag my bags of shopping bags to the overly crowded train station and fight my way into the train. it's just not something you want to do especially when you're on a girl trip!

the reviews were mostly good on agoda but i heard a few independent sources that the hotel was a bit older and not as nice as other hotels on orchard road. but i would have to say that the best thing about this hotel is the location. it is very centrally located that we barely had to take the mrt to nearby malls which also had everything from shopping to food courts. also, the hotel's lobby is very nice and comfortable. the ambiance is very nice and pleasant especially after sunset when they light all the candles in the lobby which makes for such sweet scents. also the hotel gives their guests complimentary parking passes which is good for friends who visit since parking in the area is quite pricey. overall a hotel i would definitely go back to on my next visit.
