Eating, drinking, souvenirs around, there will be a very good starting in Singapore if you don't mind the china-red decoration and small rooms without windows.
Staff very nice and helpfull overall.

Nice decorated hotel but standard rooms are small

though the standard rooms are small it is a great deal price wise if you stay just a couple of days. the hotel is located in chinatown and quite close by taxis to the main places of interest. there was no window in the room and painting of the sink was chipped. internet was working fine and the staff were helpful to get a taxi at 5am. breakfast is basic but still acceptable when it is included in the room price.
Travel tip:
good place if you wish to stay in the heart of chinatown. be aware that they are 2 grand hotel lai in the same street just a couple of houses away from each other.

the location of this hotel is good, walking distance to mrt station. the chinatown is just at the back of the hotel. in fact, it's just right in front of the window of my room. the shops play music loudly from afternoon till they close shop. and even after the shops are closed, there are still a lot of people busy packing, washing....creating a lot of noise until midnight.
