Nice decor, clean with good service. Good location.
Room service and restaurants were a tad expensive.
The staff were warm and welcoming, and the hotel was beautifully decorated. Rooms were well appointed but lacked the same detail to decor that was present in the main areas of the hotel. I had a room with a skylight which was an interesting feature. Very good location as it is near good boutique shops as well as the Maxwell Food Centre which has loads of yummy food.

1. Interesting decor
2. Helpful staff
3. Great location
1. Despite the decor, the room by itself isn't finely furnished and the size is on the small side
2. I didn't quite feel the infamous romantic touch in the hotel
The location of the hotel is simply great, within a stone's throw to China Town, yet embraces a quiet ambience tucked in a little side lane with greeneries and tasteful little shops. Take 5-min walk and there's the China Town Mrt, which is only one stop away from Clarke Quay, and two stops away from Harbour Front.
The hotel itself is nicely packaged with edgy decors and helpful service staff, although I think the in-room furnishing is just so-so: there're some cracks in the wall, which for some reason wasn't painted away and the cabinet and TV set is very small. I'm fine with the bath room:retro-type of water sprinkle, though not sure if some people might prefer a bath tub instead of a huge showering area, without a glass door. All standard rooms are on the ground floor and don't have proper windows-however, you can still tell it's day-time via a semi-transluscent slit somewhere in the ceiling.
All-in-all, there's no complaint from the stay, though I feel the "romantic boutique hotel" fame and the beautiful pictures on its website might stretch your imagination a bit far from the reality.
Hotel Feature Tip : I like the open-air rooftop restaurant-cum-bar, Breeze. The price is reasonable compared with its "high maitenance" ground floor sibling, Desire.

Excellent location, especially for Chinatown eating out and about.
Lovely decor, felt pleasantly decadent.
Staff wonderful and welcoming. Room small, but was on my own, and I like that anyway, was nice and cosy. Bathroom large in comparison and very nice.
Hassleless wireless internet in lobby and bar and free internet to rooms.
Breakfast very expensive (but that is a common theme to hotels).
Was travelling on my own and the intimacy of the hotel was conducive to this. I loved the location and the MRT was a really great and not long jaunt through local Chinatown market.
The staff were warm and welcoming. The rooftop restaurant was a lovely spot to end the night for a cocktail.
The decor of the hotel was in keeping with the name. Tastefully decadent.
Room comfortably appointed.
Restaurant Tip : Chinatown food markets very close.

intimate rooms, personal service, wonderful location
none at all - i love every minute of my stay there!
the scarlet is one of those lovely, dreamy hotels that evokes such a sense of nostalgia and passion. the rooms are intimate, the service staff are wonderful, and the location is just amazing - there's cheap good hawker fare at maxwell, and just behind the hotel is the lovely ann siang hill with booksactually, front row and style nordic - great shops all. chinatown is 2 traffic lights away, and dim joy (a great dim sum place) is only a 5 min walk away. stay here if you want to get in touch with yourself, your beloved, and with the side of singapore that most people forget exists.

Tastefully decorated giving you a five star cosy feeling. Staff is very professional. Rooms are nicely decorated and very cosy. Good location.
The walls are thin. You can hear noises such as music from the shops (the rooms are next to shops), toilet flushing, water tap noises and people laughing. If you are driving - the coupon parking system is expensive and inconvenient.
My stay in Scarlett was a pleasant one. Hotel staff are friendly, the rooms are nice, well decorated and cosy to give a 5 star hotel feeling. I drove to the hotel, and found the carpark to be very inconvenient - 1. insufficient car park during lunch and dinner time 2. the coupon system is so inconvenient. I have to wake up to put the coupon early in the morning. 3. Carpark is surprisingly expensive for an outdoor area - same price with parking in Paragon? However, this is a nice hotel to stay in - a good experience and recommend you to try.
Restaurant Tip : In room dining is good.

location, friendly and helpful staff, clean and well-kept, good breakfast
creepy, campy decor in the lobby and restaurants. No views and the windows can't be opened
Pros: Great location - definitely not one of those you-could-be-anywhere places like the Marriott or the Hyatt; clearly, the designers had a vision and then followed it through to the nth degree. I loved that it was a row of houses turned into a hotel! Good beds, good breakfast, really nice staff. Clean and well-maintained. Easy to get taxis.
The only real downside was the decor in the lobby and restaurants. What was it - bordello in the old west? S and M parlor? Red velvet, creepy flower arrangements, suggestive paintings and sensual music... at breakfast. I understand it's a romantic getaway place, but it was kind of overdone - I don't know how sexy it would make me feel if I were there on a honeymoon...
Shopping Tip : Chinatown's all around you - enjoy!

architecture, style and size,interior design,wonderful staff,comfortable rooms and beds,informal atmosphere,ideal location,internet access,
none really, maybe an ipod dock?
this is a lovely hotel designed within renovated shophouses in Chinatown...low rise and in keeping with the area. The rooms are very well appointed and the rooftop bar is great with lovely views at night. The location is ideal right in the middle of historic Chinatown with all its shopping and eating streets nearby, especially the classic Maxwell hawker centre just opposite.Service is really excellent from the friendly staff and there is a relaxed and informal atmosphere to make you feel at home straight away unlike some larger more corporate venues. We loved the room, an executive (not the most expensive),and things like the umbrella, free internet, bathroom bits, free bottled water every day, the straights times, safe, and well designed lighting. We'd love to go back.
Restaurant Tip : eat at the Maxwell hawker centre and Smith street (evening)..fantastic tasty food, huge range..dimsum for breakfast..all really close to the hotel

Location, unique, great rooftop bar, attentive service
Expensive breakfast option, rooms could be cheaper
The Scarlet Hotel indeed defines boutique. This is certainly a unique hotel in a well located, non-tourist section of Singapore with a distinctive and trendy design. Admittedly, it could be said the rates are overpriced given the rooms are relatively small (and in some cases window-less) but part of its charm is the easy access to the delights of Chinatown which altogether is a wonderful experience. The staff are helpful and there are more than sufficient facilities for a small boutique hotel - overall a comfortable place to stay for something a bit different.
Restaurant Tip : The Maxwell Rd food markets are practically across the road from the hotel. Great experience!

Great location near Chinatown. Seductive atmosphere. Personal service.
Expensive breakfast with limited choice.
Some of the cheaper rooms are very small. Don't even try for an upgrade - if you want a larger room, book it in the first place.
The Scarlet hotel is perfect for a romantic weekend, or for anyone tired of the generic international chain hotels. If you're looking for somewhere special to take your loved one, this hotel won't disappoint.

Creatively decorated boutique Hotel,
Very friendly and smiley staff,
proximity to Maxwell Food Centre and Chinatown.
I booked online for a night's stay at the Premium room and was delighted to know I got upgraded to the Swank Suite! It was my first stay at a Boutique hotel and without saying more, I loved it!
The reception staff was very polite and friendly too, I had ordered a bouquet of flowers to be delivered to the hotel room prior to checking in, it was all carried out wonderfully as planned.

The decoration details is excellent. Amenities is good.
The Scarlet hotel is good in room atmosphere but it's a little bit small room. The hotel location is around 10-15 minutes walk to the MRT station. But you will like it if you want to travel around China town area.
Restaurant Tip : Maxwell food court is only 1 minutes walk from the hotel. Also with food stall on Smith Street in China Town area just 2-3 minutes walk.

Rooms a little small, no swimming pool.
The scarlet hotel is just gorgeous! The location is great, especially if you know your way around Singapore. It is a ten minute walk from Chinatown MRT, which is not far from all the main attractions of Singapore. The rooms are gorgeous, maybe a bit too small, especially if you have a lot of luggage. But for a night it was fine for us. The hotel is very glamorous and chic, with a great rooftop bar. We found a small street behind the hotel, full of little wine bars and restaurants. Absolutely brilliant!!!!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Chinatown is two minutes away, with the night market and lots of little restaurants. Ann Siang Hill and Club street have great restaurants and bars. The hawker street market selling food is right opposite the hotel. You can have a very cheap delicious meal here and there is so much to choose from.

Friendly and helpfull staff. Nice restaurant/bar. Lovely decor.
Very small rooms. No swimming pool or fitness centre. Location a bit far. Slightly expensive for what u get. No breakfast.
Very nice buotique hotel. Friendly and helpfull staff. We stayed there for work and the location was convenient for us, but for the tourist it is not close to the train network. But Singapore taxis are fairly inexpensive and the furthest trip we made cost S$10. Hotel had some very nice restaurants and a rooftop bar. The rooms were neat and clean but very small- a common feature in singapore hotels. Lots of nice bars and retaurants around the area and chinatown tourist shopping is just down the road. The same quality of hotel can be had at about half the price. We chose it for its location to our work.
